Adventure Island: General Discussion

Once in 8 years versus three times in 1 year, bad luck or something amiss?

We go on Rage all the time but a bit anxious about it now, i'm not sure how my son would be evacuated in that position.

Same way as everyone else I would imagine. It's evac tested for everyone to be certified.

Also worth a mention, the only uk park to get a gold accolade from Visit England.
Adventure Island is a great little park. It’s run exactly as a seaside amusement park should be, and doesn’t pretend to be a theme park. It‘s opens for long hours, regularly to 10pm, has a good selection of rides for all ages, especially strong on flat rides, and has probably the most enthusiastic staff out of any UK park

Had a good day, wasn't too busy considering the weather.

Found Rage can be almost pleasant in the back row not sitting on the outside. Not sure if the two trains differ in that sense.

Spooksville had the most comically bad ops i've ever witnessed. Wasn't the hosts fault as it needs 2 people to operate so they were doing the batching, then starting the ride and watching it on the CCTV till it got back to the station... at which point they sent the completely redundant empty second train into the station! Presumably they can't take a train off. Was extra silly as various rides needlessly had two hosts (though perhaps they were training).

In terms of news, SkyDrop was closed and had a big crane next to it so not sure if it's being repaired or removed.

Also the Time Machine ride that seemingly has been opening soon forever had moved again, this time all the seats were laid out in the park next to it which was quite interesting to see. Didn't have time to get photos of either i'm afraid.

Had another quick visit today, 2 months after our previous trip and Sky Drop was in the exact same state. Genuinely can’t tell what they’re doing with it.

In good news, Bowser Jr went on his first 1.3m attraction! I measured him at the entrance and he was a comfortable 1.31m but at the ride they didn’t even ask so that bodes well for Plopsa next week (though I am aware that Southend is likely at the lower end of enforcement).

I know the owner likes to get political but this really isn't a good look... (comments section is interesting)

I wouldn't be too surprised if there's a cease and desist incoming from Dr. Seuss Enterprises and McDonald's, given that the former is very protective of IP and the latter has paid a small fortune for use of The Grinch this Christmas.

The post will have already achieved what it wanted though.

Clearly the owner doesn't like Labour showing he does not care about his workers if you can't pay your staff a decent wage then you are not a good business.

Our system swade way too much in the favour of businesses

Are the staff at Adventure Island not paid a decent wage compared to other parks?

Anecdotally i'd say they're the most enthusiastic theme/amusement park staff in the UK but presumably they almost exclusively hire teenagers for a reason.

What I mean the owner is complaining about Labour increasing wages and taxes when they pay for utilities.

Also Labour are the workers party that's why I said the owner dislikes their workers

Being local I've known a good few people who have worked there. Some loved it, some hated it/him.

I think if you are prepared to to put up with being worked quite hard and very unpredictable hours you can get on well, get supported to develop, and do quite well out of it. If you are not prepared to do that you won't.

Perhaps controversially, I do think parks should maybe stay out of politics, at very least in their public presences.

It’s a very divisive subject, and regardless of what you say, you’re going to rile up a large proportion of the population. And besides, politics is exactly the sort of thing the parks are designed to be an escape from!
