Ripsaw to move to X Sector?

As Alastair says if they relocate Ripsaw they would send it to HUSS for a complete refurbishment. This would then cut repairs needed to keep it going. and give them the chance to retheme it.

To answer you question no, it is not. :) I'm pretty sure that crown lies with Rameses. That's the flat most people know anyway.

'Iconic' perhaps wasn't a very good choice of word, but I meant wider public awareness of a flat ride. In your neck of the woods maybe Rameses is the best known flat, but up here I haven't encountered many people that have even been to Chessington, let alone would be aware of their often poorly regarded top spin. Ripsaw is quite heavily themed by UK flat standards (a sad thought, I know), is in a thrill area of arguably the UK's top park, and is as popular with spectators as it is riders, maybe even more so. By comparison Enterprise is just another fun but generic island in the sea of British flat ride mediocrity.

I have to agree with @Cheese - and it's about the least flatty style flat I can think of bar for pirate ships.

It's so much better to watch than the pendulum machines.

I'd actually say that Slammer is probably the most iconic flat ride in the UK, for visual impact alone it is totally out there on it's own. The screaming swing is great, that would do well in X Sector.

But Ripsaw is most definitely iconic, there are few rides that command spectators still in the way that ride does, and I disagree with Cheese on this that I think themed to MOJ I think it could become quite brilliant.

I'd love to see it revamped!

In all fairness, that's probably true. I can't think of anybody in my area who knows what Ripsaw is, so it is likely the same could be said for Rameses further north.

I'd imagine if this did happen, and it's not the worst idea in the world, it would mean the end of Ripsaw with fountains.

:)

Interesting, I don't like Ripsaw to ride personally but I do think it is an icon and would rather see it move than be removed!

There have been an awful lot of trees cut down to the back of Oblivion... this could just be regular/needed maintenance on the wood land, or clearing room for buildings/infrastructure that maybe needed for Ripsaw there?!

Or possibly to get entrance into the area?

I hope not. Let's face it. There's no shortage of water in the area....

I do like ripsaw as a ride but they need to do something about the restraints as for people as tall as me it literally is to uncomfortable to ride

So Ripsaw is currently out of action? :-/

Ripsaw has never been on ridetimes. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, Ripsaw is still open and I would be surprised if the cafe has been gutted, it's probably just that it's been closed recently during this off-peak period. If it's still closed on busy Scarefest days then there well may be some substance to this.

:)

Ripsaw is very popular with the public. Near enough all my non-enthusiast friends show their praise for Ripsaw and rate it as one of their favourite park rides.

There's a video circling around Facebook at the moment of a Top Spin, and a lot of the comments on there say how amazing it looks and how there's one at Alton Towers.

I think Towers will hold on to Ripsaw as long as they can. Maybe a full refurb wouldn't be a bad idea. They could mix it in with one of the family focused years planned and re-market it to the public.

I personally do not see the point in the fountains. I first rode Ripsaw at ScareFest last year, and including that trip, to date, I have visited a total of 10 times, and have ridden it on 8 of those 10. The ONLY time I have ever been splashed on Ripsaw by the fountains was at ScareFest last year, when it was raining and damn cold, whereas I've visited on rather warm days this year, and haven't been splashed once.

You used to get drenched riding Ripsaw on a regular basis. However in recent years they have stopped doing this as the ride does not like it. Although I do believe that we got a torrid soaking one day last year.

:)

Considering how Ripsaw struggles at times, what would be the chances of Towers scrapping it altogether and buying a new top spin? More specifically, a suspended top spin:

People like top spins, and I would hate for the park to get rid of Ripsaw altogether. A newer ride, with that little bit of difference which will attract the public, must surely be the better option compared to keeping Ripsaw on life support?

Yes, it's of the similarly named Riptide at Knott's Berry. A ride which I only witnessed operating twice when I visited - once when I went on, and another time with only 1 person riding :p

Its a great ride but I think its always been over shadowed by nemesis. Chessingtons Ramases Revenge would have to be the top choice for me, its souroundings almost theatre like. In a deep cut, so your looking down at the ride at points. I really don't think the ride would survive a move.
