Football Discussion

We might have lost but I'm encouraged by the performance. Defence didn't miss shawcross and with a bit of time and fitness I think the midfield will click.

My predicted table:

1) Man City (They were unlucky to have injuries to key players such as Kompany last season, Aguero stays fit and I can see them finishing 10 points clear at the top.)
2) Man Utd (Have bought well and if they either buy a top class striker or get Rooney back in form, I can see them finishing above Chelsea)
3) Chelsea (I really don't think they was as good last season as the table suggested, and both Manc clubs look stronger this year)
4) Arsenal (On paper they arguably have the best squad in the league, but Arsenal under Wenger just don't have the mentality to win the league imo. Will do the same as the past few seasons, have a good run and become title favourites at some point, but will bottle it as usual following their obligatory mid season collapse.)
5) Liverpool (A more balanced team than last year and some good additions, but still behind the top four in terms of quality)
6) Spurs
7) Stoke (Can see them being the surprise package this year, have a strong squad and actually play decent football nowadays, unlike Pulis' side.)
8) Southampton
9) Everton (Seem to have forgot about the concept of spending money again, will improve slightly from last season but are still a long way from Europe.)
10) Swansea
11) Newcastle (Mike Ashley seems to finally be showing some ambition, and they've bought some good players)
12) Crystal Palace
13) Leicester
14) West Ham
15) Aston Villa (I rate Sherwood, and think he'll end up at a big club fairly soon)
16) Watford (Strongest of the three promoted teams imo)
17) West Brom
18) Bournemouth (Will start strong and get plenty of praise for their football, but like Blackpool a few years ago, Burnley last year etc... the clichéd "likeable small team who plays nice football" always goes down)
19) Sunderland (Can't see whatever new manager they end up getting mid season (they've basically had the same season for the past half decade) keeping them up this year)
20) Norwich (Was a random pick between them and Sunderland for last place)

Also predicting Aguero top scorer, Dick Advocaat to win the sack race and Harry Kane to fade into mediocrity. (He's basically the new Darren Bent).

And United are back in the main draw of the Champions League. Really happy with how well we did tonight. :)

Bruges were crap though. It was like a training game.

Poor little pea. Felt for him. He must be in limbo right now.

Oh, Brugge were pretty poor. We could've easily won by quite a few more goals!

I'm just happy that we're back in the group stages of the Champions League after that year out. It's going to be interesting to see who we get drawn with tomorrow afternoon.

Who'd have thought, one goal conceded and 4 clean sheets... Shaw is showing his worth finally. Blind is just consistently reliable now which is what we have been missing with Jones and Rojo.

On paper it looks easy but we've some tricky games as trips to Wolfsburg and CSKA won't be easy. I think we'll go through, but not sure we'll cruise through.

If we can start strongly against PSV and Wolfsburg, then we'll have a much better chance of going through.

Good job Swansea aren't in your Champions League group! :p

I know it's early days but it is hard to see past Manchester City for the title right now, they've been flawless in the three games they've played. Chelsea don't look at it in the slightest although they will come good eventually, then both United and Arsenal are in need of a striker. United especially, Rooney looks so isolated up on his own.

Swansea could be dark horses for the top 6 this season, I think they are a brilliant team. Huge credit to Pardew at Palace also, they've got great pace and power with Sako, Bolasie and Zaha (although I think they've been ripped off with £9 million for Wickham).

We've made a pretty decent start also but I still have a few concerns. A clean sheet wouldn't go a miss!

:)

Yes, Martial Arts as I've decided he will be called. Not sure if a 19 year old for that much money is going to be the answer, a hell of a lot of pressure for him to have to handle!

:)
