Worlds worst theme parks

Name and shame the worlds worst theme parks... i'm not sure many can beat Fantazy Land

Not been there but M&D's theme park looks pretty bad.

I may get shot down in flames for this but it would have to be Drayton for me..
We went there last year having never been and thought it was vile! We decided never to go back...

I think Drayton is a bit naff but i'm not sure about the worst in the world.

This is a tough one for me, as I can't really single out one theme park for being the worst that I've visited. I can select aspects of some theme parks that I didn't enjoy all that much, though. For example, Terra Mítica near Benidorm. The themeing (both on-ride and off-ride) is very good, but the woodie there is very rough, and their only other main coaster is an SLC (which was closed when I went, as they'd moved it from one side of the park to the other). Flambards, one which is close to me, is only a small park, with some relatively decent rides, but when I visited back in May, it was so easy to get a massively high ride count - the park was very dead. I wouldn't rush to go back to Terra Mítica, but I may well return to Flambards in the near future, seeing as it's in the same county as me.

This topic is essentially a basher for parks we don't like, right? Nonetheless two of Britain's worst theme parks I consider to be Flamingo Land and Camelot.

Whilst Flamingo Land has the forgiveness of a Zoo, it is possibly the shoddiest and worst run theme parks I've ever experienced. It's miserable, the staff are unexcitable, the rides are terribly maintained and run, there's a total of 25% theming and makes for a very unenjoyable visit. Nothing about it is inspiring yet somehow the Zoo (run by a totally different brand of staff) is at the same level of good as Chessington's. The ride line up isn't too bad admittedly and in ways I can see the good of the park that creates a minority fanbase but I'm not willing to return unless high investment changes are made.

Then we have poor, poor Camelot. No riding there, boys. It's upsetting to see a park on its knees, not knowing whether to sit through a slow and painful death, be taken on by a new and caring business company or carry on as normal. The park is quiet with a relatively meh line up, shoddy maintenance, staff who try to make a day fun and a hovering dark cloud constantly above it of doom. I do admittedly have a soft spot for the place but it's hard to call myself a fan when the best ride there (Knightmare) has become terribly maintained making it impossible for me to drag myself back there.

Why did you think it was vile? Would help if you were to elaborate on why you had such an awful visit!

Whilst there is definitely minimal investment and a lack of thrills, there is a bit of charm about the park.
It reminds me of this scene from the original Shrek movie for some reason...

Heh, I think that's why several of us have soft spots for the place i.e. apologists We know they want to make an effort there and show they can be great but unless a Samaritan company pulls it out of the rut, it'll more than likely go the same way as the legendary American Adventure.

If it was that bad I think you should take another trip there this year, im sure you will be pleasently surpised as I visited tuesday and had what I thaught was a brilliant day with numerous re-rides on everything!

Awful Flowers for sure! It's too pricey to get in for starters and what if you don't want to ride but watch your family? Ridiculous! Theming in most cases is sub standard to most european parks and even some uk parks! the rides are mid core at best not including Nemesis in that btw and the marketing well its a shambles really Thi3teen the ultimate rollercoaster erm yeah ok it's a family coaster no better than the mine train.

Now I'm sure that we've all heard of a theme park somewhere in Beijing known as Shijingshan Amusement Park. As far as this article reads, entrance fee is only $1.50 and is known to be an infamous knockoff of Disneyland yet has 'rides' like Jurassic Adventure, King Kong Spin and Spinning Batman.

The castle doesn't look *too* bad though if they were intending for a banana colour scheme...



Admiring how their golf ball building is making an attempt to not look like Epcot...



Not sure if Toon Town or Wuze Town...



Who wants to ride the wonderful monorail of bok choi?

American Adventure sure gives Forbidden Journey a run for its money!

Rainbow's End in New Zealand was dreadful.

Oh, I forgot Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight - it really is one of the most awful parks I've ever visited. 90% of it is just terrible CATCF style statues with animatronics - and there are a few badly maintained "thrill" rides which I didn't really want to chance. Granted it is a small park but it's truly laughable when you walk around in certain parts.

If it was that bad I think you should take another trip there this year, im sure you will be pleasently surpised as I visited tuesday and had what I thaught was a brilliant day with numerous re-rides on everything!

Well maybe but not sure my other half will want to.. it only had a few big rides and to be honest once we went on them we were done. Found it to not be very tidy, we went on the "skyride" thing and that felt incredibly dangerous. We actually found the pub bar thing which is right tucked away and sat there most of the day! Think it may need a lick of paint thats all.. Everyones different I suppose!

According to my grandad, who has been ato Alton Towers today with my two cousins, that (Alton) is the worst, due to the fact he still had to pay to get in despite the fact that he was (having undergone a triple heard bypass a year years ago) not going to ride anything other than the Monorail, Skyride and maybe Hex, still had to pay.

He finds places that offer a PPR system, or a rather large discount for none-riders, like PB do a much better option.

For me, I'd have to say DMP, its the only place I've been to and not re-riden anything, arrived late, left earily and nearly got food poisening.

Ash84 - Whilst I obviously don't agree that Alton is the 'worst' theme park, I do agree that PPR systems are much more economically fair and therefore preferable from a single ticket price entry.

In my opinion the worst theme park is Dickens World. It's advertised as a theme park but really it's a well themed museum, with huge queues and very little in terms of activities to justify the ticket price.

Alton Towers is hardly the worst park is it? It's arguably one of the best theme parks in the UK.

PPR systems are fairer although I would agree that Alton Towers could do with a ticket that people such as your grandfather can buy when they will only be going on x amount of rides and not everything that the park has to offer. Perhaps in Alton's case it could be in the form of a wristband. I guess due to the size and workings of Alton Towers a PPR system will never be introduced - mainly due to the amount of money Alton create due to ticket sales. Discounted tickets would be useful though.
