And will the single riders queue be open for old duffers like me?

One would assume so. Although Towers do seem to be phasing out single rider queues generally (Nemesis, Rita and now Air's have all gone) the one for The Smiler worked well.

:)

Nemesis suffered as it loads SRQ the wrong side, Air's and Rita's never worked. For Nemesis it would require the SRQ to load at Fasttrack merge to work properly, Air would need it at queue merge and I have no idea for Rita

What happened with Rita was the FT queue was taking taking so long they swapped the SRQ for FT.

The SRQ on Rita I never found moved much quicker unless it was empty!

Shame it's gone on Nemmy though.

Removing Smiler's SRQ would be ridiculous. That works really well, I'd say it's essential, even more so as it's likely to be working on reduced capacity for a while - either due to trains, or quadruple checks.

When a good team was on the ride, it worked really well, when a not so good team was on it... omg.

I feel like the theme will be watered down alot, the key focus of The Smiler will be the worlds first element.

I can see alot of the things (including merchandise) replaced with references to the inversions instead of the correction theme.
It'll be disappointing if they do, and I hope I'm wrong but it feels like the logically thing to do when you theme screams 'correction of the body & mind'.

It'll be also interesting to see if the TLC programme will move onto The Smiler after this year has passed, I hope so because the ride looks like a mess at the moment, with Nemesis recent re-paint, a 22 year old ride will look better than a 3 year old ride!

Given the amount of work going on across the park at the very least I would expect The Smiler to have received a jet wash this closed season.

It's not the best quality photo but it looks like much of the concrete has been jet washed.

Looks like they still need to put all of the signs back up. Also I noticed last season that one of the circular symbols on the Hypnotiser leg of the Marmaliser had gone missed (I assume it fell off at some point). Notice that it is still missing in that photo, hopefully it also makes a return.

:)

It makes sence to jet wash it all, otherwise there would be one clean section of concrete that would draw guests thoughts back to last year.

The round sign that fell off was on the floor near one of the marmaliser legs, hopefully someone will notice and stick it back up!

I contacted Alton a couple of days ago enquiring about whether the hotel rooms for the ride would be back as well as asking if anything for the ride would change theming wise. Here's the response I got back:

Sounds like it will be operating again in its original form. :)
