Planet Coaster: new Frontier game

This is my park, Pirate's Cove, so far. I'm planning at some point to have a rapids in the park so that I can call it 'Pirates of the Pancreas'.

This is the first roller coaster 'The Leviathan'. A majority of the rides will be named after songs by the band 'Alestorm'.

This game looks absolutely amazing! Just a shame it isn't available on Mac. :(

Also of those forgotten Mac users too! I've just used the "bootcamp" application on the Mac to have the option to boot with windows. You don't need a licence key or anything, that is if you're only going to use the windows partition to game on.

Works perfectly (with a few control changes needed for the Mac keyboard/mouse) :)

Watch a lot of this on Twitch and I can't believe how customisable it is.
I saw this guy building a rollercoaster underground with cool lighting effects then for the finale shoot out as if it came out of a volcano, with actual flames. I wish I had something compatible to run this.

I can admit to watching a little too many play throughs of this game since day 1 (and of course spending too much time on it since then!), along with my park so far predictably being viking themed! Just got to work out when I next have the time how to build a long boat...

Eventually, I might try and recreate my park in RCT2 that broke the game and have a fjord taking up most of the middle, and separate islands for separate themed areas!

Some of the things people have been creating in this game recently is mind blowing. It has to be noted too, that everything is created with in game scenery and assets that is available in the base game to everyone. There is no third party or custom scenery used.

Here is Splash Mountain

They have also just announced that a boxed version of the game is going to be released. It will however require Steam still. That is a good thing though given how well Steam Workshop intergrates into the game. Allowing people to share parks, rides and buildings very easily.

What the hell is the point of that? When will they realise that some people want nothing to do with Steam‽

I get that you want to keep your computer DRM free, but Steam really isn't that bad. In fact compared to the hundreds of pieces of custom content you used to download for RCT3 Steam Workshop is by far the safer option. Some of those download links were dodge as hell.

Afraid to say Diogo that Steam (and other online retailers) are the future of PC games. The advantages far outway the cons.

I agree. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea. The fact steamworkshop alone is heavily intergrated into the game, with over 100,000 user created buidlings, rides, parks and scenery items that are easily downloadable and accessible to everyone, shows it's worth with a game like this.

Planet Coaster is reducliously good. Especially if you're the type of person that loves to build and theme down to the finest detail (Blithering Lodge ;) ) The fact it uses Steam is a small disadvantage into what is otherwise a fantastic and genuine evolution of RCT games. The enjoyment you will get from this type of game will far outweigh the fact you need to use software like Steam, in my oppinion.

Any tutorial on how to do this?

Happy about the Fireworks update, waiting until weekend though to see what's what with them. RCT3's fireworks were good because you could add your own and there were a lot of realistic fireworks created to make realistic displays. From what I saw last night with the pre-made shows look a little bit cheesy so I'm not sure how they will sync with music and indeed how the syncing works. I know it's not made for this and is meant as a little add on, but I hope there's some scope for making brilliant timed displays.

Brought game during the sale thinking i'd have to refund it due too my potato being shite. Surprised it runs so well, been glued too it since.

The game gives you so much freedom it's kind of daunting.

how easy is it in terms of building the coasters and the surroundings such as putting the coaster through a tunnel or underground

Very easy, the easiest it's ever been. Building coasters takes a bit of practice but it's a great tool.

Ah man! Don't do this to me I really want the game but I know my CPU isn't going to be good enough

I run a GTX780 i5 2500 3.3ghz Processer with 8gb of RAM and at around 10,000 guests it gets sluggish. It depends a lot on how many pieces you have in the park i.e heavily primed buildings etc. You can limit the number of guests you have in your park though as well.
