It may be a day or so early to start this topic but I might as well! The IAAPA Attractions Expo is taking place next week, with the trade floor opening between November 13th and November 16th.

If you've not already seen it, here is the trailer for the event, it's rather amusing!

I know most of us here aren't massive fans of TPR, but to be fair to Robb Alvey he does normally do some fantastic videos with interviews in for IAAPA, so hopefully we have some of these to look forward to!

:)

HAHAHA - one of the most random and hilarious videos I've seen for ages! I wonder if the Mack board were told to act deliberately woodenly, because it was so bad I was laughing ;)

I do love the Mack's!

Can't wait for all the IAAPA gossip - especially from Gerstlauer (Alton Towers, Tripsdrill), Mack (Liseberg, Dubai, Nigloland rumours etc.) and the usuals!

:D

I can just imagine everyone going into overdrive if either GCI or TGG announce a 'new product' for the United Kingdom. :)

This is probably the first IAAPA where I'm looking forward to hearing from Gerts the most :)

I'm not expecting any announcements from them concerning SW7.

But there is a chance that someone will ask them about lap bars. I'm sure that if the person in question asks them politely and doesn't try to get any other info out of them they might let that info slip.

Here's a picture that Premier Rides have uploaded to Facebook of them preparing their stand. I'm quite interested to see what they show this year, as they seem to have been raising their game recently. I'm hoping to see something to do with their new ride for SFMM in 2013.

I'm under the impression SW7 will use classic OTSR's from Gerstlauer due to a variety of reasons.

All these different Dimension simulators are crazy. I was at EAS in London last year and the amount of different 5D and 6D simulators on show was quite something. I actually tried out one of them (I think it was a 5D but may have been 6D) and it was very good fun, but I wouldn't say there were 5 or 6 different dimensions to it. I think it is merely a marketing ploy.

:)

Possibly the best themed B&M wing rider train yet?:

Possibly the best themed B&M wing rider train yet?:

I don't think so. it looks very fibreglassy and nasty to me, like one of those coin operated kids' ride-on things that you get outside arcades at the seaside.

As for that S&S concept. Wow, B&M have been out-wingriderd. Do we know if the cars will be controlled like the standard 4D coaster or free to swing like the normal free fly?

I don't think so. I'm sure if B&M had wanted a design with rotating seats then they could have had one, however they merely wanted a traditional wing-train which would ride in the normal way. Regardless, knowing S&S they'll probably spend 10 years trying and failing to build one at some obscure location before B&M/Intamin overtake them with another polished design.

B&M don't give much away at all do they? Although Walter's refusal to answer the question about a possible hyper multi-looper is very intriguing.

Also, those rock tops are the best. When can Alton get them?

So far, I've preferred In the Loop's coverage of this year's IAAPA to TPR's as their interviews and coverage have been much more in-depth. They also go to the effort of showing the exhibitors that aren't necessarily massive ride manufacturers but who provide an interesting new insight to a side of the industry that you might not normally think about.

I think they're definitely planning a 4D wing coaster - "a question of budget" - there's no doubt it will be in development and let's hope SW8 or SW9 will be one of the first of those ;)

I don't understand the fascination is with 4D, especially at Alton where there isn't enough flat land without height restrictions to pull off any X style elements. I'm hoping B&M come up with something even better.
I'm more interested by that last comment on the looping hyper coaster.

Also apparently we'll be seeing a high five somewhere in Europe (I'm sure I've heard this rumour somewhere before but it's nice to have an almost confirmation).

Plus thanks for recommending Loop's coverage CGM, I'll try and check it out soon.
