[2025] Project Ocean: New Forbidden Valley Flat Ride

Can it get stuck upside down?
In theory yes,

In practice: very, very rare, all flat rides that rotate upside down it is possible if e-stopped in the right position (we are talking fractions of a degree) where the forces line up the arms could get stuck at the top position, but since the gondala is able to rotate, it is possible for that to land in the perfect position too, but all of these are very very rare and will likely not happen in the time a ride is operating and requires the perfect conditions to achieve (no wind, perfect weight distribution, perfect position etc)

You'd release the gondola holding brake and it'd self right, just in the air
any flat ride that swings upside down, no matter how you weigh it can get stuck upside down, including the gondola it is extremely unlikely as I said but it is still possible for instance if it E-stops with the gondola perfectly perched upside down such that the centre of mass was over the pivot point, then it would get stuck (assuming you couldn't move the arms for a reason (power cut??) as you could move the arm such that the gondola centre of mass wasn't over the pivot) as I said it is very unlikely, but possible.

edit, Ryan the ride mechanic video on this topic (different ride, but it is possible for the gondola to do something similar):

A top spin, you won't get it to sit at the point where it could get stuck upside down. Sorry it won't happen, to many center of gravities at play on those models for it to happen, other rides maybe, but not a top spin.

as I said it is very very low chance, but not impossible being realistic you are probably more likely to get struck by lightning than get stuck upside down as too many things would have to happen to allow it to happen (an E-stop is rare enough)

Personally I've never ben a fan of flat rides that flip you around all over the place! Don't mind inversions/intensity on a coaster as you can anticipate what's coming, it's sort of a journey! For that reason, and the potential for them to get stuck in uncomfortable positions keeps me off them.

I'm sure many people come to a similar judgement, so if it does ever get stuck, they knew what they were getting in for potentially. Each to their own and all!

Either way, this should be a nice addition to the area, and hopefully a visual spectacle!

So what happens if it just gets mechanically stuck during the cycle in an upside down position say due to a power cut? Mainly thinking of the moment when they are lowering you down face first into the water. Does gravity instantly take over and it swings back into place then settles level?

I am not sure, I think the arm would slowly lower to the down position, IF the gondola was stuck upside down then it would probably be knocked out of that position by the arms movement, besides the range of areas at which the gondola could get stuck is very small and would be very difficult to get into that position it would likely be off to one of the sides and then flip to be upright

I am completely baffled with this one.

From what we've seen of the physical hardware, and this image, there is nothing at all that seems to tie in with those vivid green colours from the adds and the theming in FV at the end of the season.
I suspect they are hiding maybe two giant green acid vats either side or some other elaborate theming? Either way the marketing was screaming that this thing was going to be fluorescent oozing green in colour, so I half expected to see green OTSR for example! Very intriguing! :)

I was thinking the same, I'd got in my head this was going to be luminous green and black. However I'd be happier with the yellow and black like above as it's more reminiscent to Ripsaw.

Two acid vats on either side is a good shout.

I am thinking black and yellow on the ride/structure, then two theming pieces on either side with green pipes, etc, maybe leading into some kind of water feature. I hope they go with good quality theming and don't make a cheap job of it.

The cardboard gun emplacement could do with a companion

The colourway is baffling though considering literally every piece of marketing around this ride has been fluorescent toxic waste green, and then the ride actually turns up looking like some spare parts from JCB's paintshop.
