2025: Toxicator - General Discussion

Graffiti at parks has been a thing for decades. You'd think Merlin being experts in their field would know about it by now.

It was the great Ablert Einstein who said; “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

That quote could be applied here to MMM, although to be fair, it's not just MMM, other, non Merlin, UK parks seemingly do not learn either.

Not sure why but every cycle is running with at least 4 seats empty at each end on both sides. Lucky the park is quiet as capacity is bad for the new ride.

UPDATE: Seemingly only temporary as 15mins later they are fully loading again.
Ooooh... I can see me on that photo 😁 I was a bit concerned about the random loading but there was only a dinky queue so maybe avoiding having to wait to fill enough seats until the queue filled up

this would be my guess, to ensure an even loading on both sides and not cause problems with maitanence when the queue is short.
Yep, exactly that.

On opening day, myself and others of our group were on the last ride of the night. We were asked to fill from the middle and leave equal spaces on either end for balance.

As always, a fascinating video from Ryan The Ride Mechanic with his thoughts on why Toxicator is currently louder than normal when it applies the brakes on the gondola. He thinks it could be a valve issue - either the valve is sticking when releasing or injecting air into the brake drum or one of the valve's trim exhausts isn't letting air out quick enough due to a blockage

It just sounds like every other Huss Top Spin ever.

Walking into FV the other week was as if Ripsaw had never left.
This is exactly what I first thought. All top spins squeak. It's pretty likely when you are trying to stop the gondola moving when it has all that force. When the brakes activate and the gondola is not moving there's obviously no squeak.

I'm thinking it's just a mix of newness, not fully worn in, couple of dodgy valves (not dangerous), and the fact that stopping a high force moving gondola is likely to cause a squeak when activating the brakes.
