[2025] Rulantica General Discussion
I'd save it for last personally. Rulantica was easily the most knackering day of the last time I was at EP, despite having 3 days in the park as well. Also, if you don't wear pool shoes, some of the floor surfaces will try and wear your feet out - I found the first time I went that park days...- Cheese

Liseberg: General Discussion
Yes indeed - there's a guest services point on the corner of the hotel next to that entrance that will be able to sort that for you.- Cheese

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Your questions raised in this topic are actually pretty specialised, and I'd suggest they would be better to ask Paultons about directly. For one thing, Paultons is pretty highly regarded here, but these questions probably fall outside the expertise of a mostly theme park enthusiast-based...- Cheese

Best Wooden Coaster in Europe?
I have done Thundercoaster, but can't remember a thing about it strangely. Speaking of Timberliners, Twister at Grona Lund deserves an honourable mention. It's a great little ride for its size. That's definitely despite the trains though! I was hoping Cu Chulainn might be worthy of high praise...- Cheese

Best Wooden Coaster in Europe?
Definitely Wodan. It's not particularly long, but everything from the top of the lift hill to the brake run is absolutely wild. It's shockingly fast in places, and has tremendous airtime. EP also seem to be looking after it very well, so it always rides superbly. Troy would be second, based on...- Cheese

WWTP Radio, Thorpe Park's iconic radio station!
WWTP's music always seems to me like an odd choice from a perspective of the park's target audience age, but a fantastic one for building immersion in the areas it's used in. There's nothing new about theme park music basically being additional theming in audio form, but the fact that these...- Cheese

Efteling: General Discussion
If Untamed at Walibi Holland's station makes it look like La Place: The Ride, that concept art makes this look like the Efteling La Place Hotel.- Cheese

Liseberg - first time tips?
I think the first 2 points that spring to mind are these: - Unlike most UK parks closing queues at the advertised closing time and then running the rides for however long it takes to shift the queue, Liseberg closes the queues early enough for each ride to close by closing time. That can make...- Cheese

Miniatur Wunderland
As both a trains and model trains nut and a fan of most things technical, Miniatur Wunderland is obviously right up my street. Even if you're not so interested in the extraordinary level of detail applied to pretty well everything (and while I can appreciate it that's me to some extent), the...- Cheese

Rides that required a second ride or series of rerides for you to fully appreciate them
I've always felt that Mamba would have heavily benefitted from an extra inversion at the end, rather than just petering out into lots of cornering after the second corkscrew. Oz'iris has an unconventional layout by comparison anyway, but I particularly appreciate that it has one last roll before...- Cheese

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation
I'm not keen on this new backstory business. Yes, it's always been a load of nonsense that doesn't matter in the grander scheme of things, but still...genetic modification? Come on. Firstly, you're telling me that the organisation that originally pinned down this nigh-uncontrollable alien...- Cheese

What ride do you have the most intangible love for?
On paper Efteling is absolutely not my kind of park. While I do consider myself a theme park fan rather than a thrill ride fan, I'd be lying if I said my ride preferences didn't primarily lie in thrill coasters or sometimes flat rides. Efteling has a strong track record in dark rides, which...- Cheese

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation
It's hard to say just watching that Midlands Today clip on my phone, but it does seem like the sound of the ride running will now be more like Inferno. While you wouldn't call Inferno quiet exactly, its roar is somewhat muted compared to Nemesis mk1, and it doesn't have the accompanying...- Cheese

[2024] Geisterschloss: Castello dei Medici
As everyone has been saying above, Geisterschloss has been a long-standing incoherent mess that finally ought to be resolved alongside any fire risk reduction. Even aside from the fact that EP have allowed years of putting any old rubbish into the ride though, it seems like a decision is now...- Cheese

Liseberg: General Discussion
The issue for me with these coasters is less the ride system itself (although a second tyre drive on the reversing spike would definitely be a big improvement), and more the fact that a lot of parks that buy them really ought to be buying a full circuit version on a similar scale, with multiple...- Cheese

Europa Park: The Imperfections
The variation in station wait times is probably something to do with how they keep the trains far enough apart, although I don't actually know how the Panoramabahn is signalled. I can't say for certain, and it's undoubtedly the right thing to have done anyway, but on my last visit I thought the...- Cheese

When were you last scared on a ride ?
As mentioned earlier, whichever trap door slide I did at Rulantica was probably the last time I got nervous about a ride. I'm not that keen on speed slides anyway - one splash to the face and you're effectively blind until the bottom, where you'll probably get another with a noseful to boot...- Cheese

Rollercoaster Restaurant: It's just dire.
The thing I find most strange about RCR is that a large TS group booked multiple tables for its opening night, and based on Towers Street Bar and Grill's opening day it was fully expected that the evening would be an absolute (but potentially entertaining) disaster. I don't have any detailed...- Cheese

Icon or Blue Fire?
Correct or not, it seems feasible - even late in the day Icon feels like it's running slower than intended. Turning up the launch power of course wouldn't solve the other significant issue with Icon, which is the poor pacing. Firing off both inversions in quick succession and following them up...- Cheese
