[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

This is a controversial take. It is also the correct take. Having seen Nemesis the month it opened in 1994, I can say without any doubt the track was aesthetically better in 2016 than it was in 1994.

    The Smiler - General Discussion

Where the general public are concerned, I would say Smiler is comfortably the most popular ride. Wickerman a close-ish second, but The Smiler seems to be the ride a lot of non-enthusiasts are most interested in just from the general buzz you get on park. In previous years (even after the crash)...

The marmaliser screens are never off. During off season, you can see them flashing from the fields behind the park.

    The Smiler - General Discussion

All speculation aside, that would make sense. The one ride it completed Monday last week resulted in the train stuck on the brakes for 45 minutes.

    The Smiler - General Discussion

Smiler's issue is just terrible timing. If it is, say, down a month (not saying it will be), that wouldn't have been the end of the world back in May or whenever. During Scarefest though? Nightmare for Towers as it's probably their most popular ride down during their busiest period.

    The Smiler - General Discussion

Well, Danscott is going Saturday. So, I could still be right about it being open :D

Don't quote me, but I'd say it's more likely to be open than not.

    The Smiler - General Discussion

I think three, four or five day downtime periods are to be expected considering the major issues with supplies right now. Nemesis, Rita, Th13teen and Wicker Man have all had occasions where they've been down for a few days, so what's happening with Smiler right now is nothing new. My feeling is...

Had a fantastic day on park today (and yesterday). Queues great (on the whole).

Already open again. It was obviously just a minor technical fault this time.

    Quick Questions

It could do. It was closed a lot over summer last year but did reopen just before Scarefest for the last few weeks of last season. It had this season, up until it closed about a month ago, been more reliable than in previous seasons. It was due its annual downtime.

The Smiler vs Colossus; which of the UK’s inversion record breakers do you prefer?

Smiler far better for me. The layout is more interesting, it's more fun to ride, and I've never found it remotely rough. Having said that, I certainly don't hate Colossus either.

It's rumoured. There has never actually been any confirmation of it at all.

    2021: General Discussion

Definitely can't cosign on this. Towers, I think, has one of the best coaster line ups (if not the best) in Europe. If your take your subjective view out of it for a second and just evaulate whats on offer at Towers: B&M Invert - first of its kind in Europe. B&M Dive - World first. B&M Flyer -...

    General Queue Times Discussion

I would say it's fairly safe to say that Smiler, regardless of throughputs, is the most popular ride with the GP, its only major competition being Wicker Man. Based on general in-park buzz, it's the ride you hear most people talking about in passing and is most likely to have a queue when the...

As grim as it is, I've always been fascinated by the cause of and lead up to the crash. Great videos.

This has always been a busy period. Lots of families go at the very end of the summer to make their kids feel better about going back to school.

In this video from 2000, in the opening 20 seconds, you can clearly see the Nemesis extension queueline going through what is now Sub Terra's queueline from the monorail.
