I just saw the annual pass sale post. Do you guys think I'd be able to use my return ticket to get money off an annual pass?

Either way looking forward to heading out again this Sunday. This is the first season where I've gone more than once in ages.

Not related to this coach lounge but speaking of Leek Sings... I never understood the fascination by many fans with random contractors who have a Facebook page, they print a "toilets this way" sign on their machine for a fence somewhere and it gets loads of attention and follows as if it's some behind the scenes 'magic'. Not having a moan at anyone, just it's pretty weird that's all!

Same with the TLC toilets last winter that got loads of comments and recommendations by random fans on what make of toilet Alton Towers should use, perhaps time to take a break from theme parks if people are really that concerned about the dullest of things, unless that's just part of the "everyone now has information on everything" effect of social media!

Anyway it's odd the park don't just have their own print house for signs, like most parks, because it's nothing special to do these days with vinyl printing. Keeps a firm in good business I suppose.. I also think the signs added around the Smiler fences covered with geeky statistics before you're even in X Sector are very naff, although I remember lots of enthusiasts loved them at the time because of "Leek Signs"!

I believe Merlin Studios do offer signs. I also believe that these signs cost far more than equivalents from Leek Signs!

:)

Leek Signs are good although I think they are over used. They are good for things like the maps around the park, posters, for small projects like the coach room above etc.. However for bigger projects Merlin/Towers should really be using more hard wearing specialist stuff.

When it comes to enthusiasts getting excited over signs and toilets... I think that shows the state of the UK theme park industry more than anything. The fact that signs and toilets are exciting just shows how very little work is done to any of the UK parks.

What I find most confusing about the addition of signs to the park is that new ones are often created in very dated looking styles. Take for instance that red diamond sort of background (supposed to look like an old window or quilted upholstery perhaps?) used at or around the monorail stations; a presumably totally new sign was put up last year to direct guests to the Rollercoaster Restaurant, but in exactly the same style! I suspect new signs are just matched with others in their area to avoid a mismatch that would otherwise require others to be replaced too, but it does make me doubt that the park has any sort of branding policy whatsoever at the moment. Maybe it's just seen as a case of keeping things much as they are until a wider rebranding exercise can take place?

Atleast they are theming the signs to the area

From what I gather Towers mainly use Leek Signs, but they do also use Spectrum Signs. Then for 3D signs or large signs it's often another company or Merlin Studios.

I believe a few years ago Towers had their own sign writer employed at the pack, but he retired or something and was never replaced so they just use external companies now.
