Just returned from a Europa trip, in which I rode Voletarium for the first time - And all I can say is wow! amazing ride! - the whole experience inc the queue/walkthrough, absolute disney-standard stuff!
I visited Shanghai Disney in April this year and rode their 'sourin' a few times, which was good, but I have to say I thought Voletarium absolutely surpasses it in my books.
the ride system itself felt more dynamic and seemed more 'thrilling' in its motions - the smells where crisp and instant, and the mist/cloud effects where on point!
The score was also beautiful, I May have gotten a little choked the first time I rode it! The film was Lovely - I loved the additional details of the occasional character flying past like the owl, robot, paraglider etc.
whilst SOURIN' was 'meh' and perhaps forgettable, and weirdly out of context with its queue/backstory, Voletarium was an absolute highlight, I was surprised and delighted! - It's up there with Arthur for me as a compelling immersive experience and maybe a new top 5 Europa ride.
On sourin' they had NO smells (might have been broken when i visited), no wind/mist/cloud/spray during segments which really needed it etc, so maybe these things are a sum of all their effects synching.
Even so - I preferred the whole back story and pre-show/queue theming and decoration on voletarium!
Bravo Europa!
