It doesn’t matter what the park do they are always criticised - can you imagine if they opened the rides and one broke down and riders got stuck, there would be an outcry.
We all know Towers made some changes after the Smiler crash so comparing operations from now to before then is a bit silly imo.
That being said if BPB can operate coasters in these cold conditions why can’t Towers??

Also good to see them replying about on the gate prices,

anyone paying full price automatically receives a Season Pass which allows entry throughout the season. Alternatively anyone visiting today gets a free ticket to return.

It's almost as if the park are a lot more tentative about potential rifes stalling due to the slow running in colder weather (Air is quite bad) or general safety of guests after a certain incident...

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. The last minute decision is likely because they might have hoped the forecast changed. Imagine if they said on Wednesday they would close then suddenly it's 7 degrees and clear?

Think a lot of frustration is misplaced tbh.

Anyone know of an alternative route to the park? I'm due in travel in the morning from the north west and I usually come off the m6 at Stoke and follow to Uttoxeter. That route should be fine until the rural village hills. Is there any other way I could go to avoid the steep hills? I'm aware it rural whichever way you go but some routes may be better than others I'm sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes but the changes I’m talking about would take longer than a week to implement then you would have to change back to normal running settings within a couple of days.

As for the notice they warned on social media all week that there was a risk of closures. But like the rest of us you don’t make plans on a weather forecast more than 24hrs ahead they just ain’t that accurate. The weather front could have slowed and not hit until Sunday or Monday.

Come off the A50 when it gets out of Stoke, just as the speed limit increases, to go through Blythe Bridge, then head for Cheadle. Towers should be well signposted from there but if not, head for Oakamore, and Farley and then Towers aren't far.

This route doesn't go through Alton village and I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's much less hairy, although still rural.

I think it works our slightly quicker and easier on petrol, although I usually just stick to the A50 until Uttoxeter for convenience (and a few times I've missed the Blythe Bridge exit lol)

Massive thanks for this. I've just been on maps and seen this myself as well. Going to give it a bash. Those hills through Alton are giving me the frights already. My car might not handle them too well as it's a big car.

I think I've probably been that way at some time anyway but not for years and years. I can see the journey taking a long old time through those places.
