2019: Peter Rabbit Hippity Hop - Junior Drop Towers for CBeebies Land
Going back the Peter Rabbit suggestion, I'd forgotten there's a frog character called Jeremy Fisher, which the HipHop towers could be themed to. If the Frog Hopper closes they could reuse the big pond reeds from Cloud Cuckoo Land, may as well if they're going spare.
The Peter Rabbit franchise has a history with Alton Towers so it would be nice to see it return.

The Peter Rabbit show ran 1994-2001, then the ice arena was used until 2005 and then the arena was taken out, however the covering marquee structure was left for many more years until the CBeebies Land planning application. Hope that makes sense.Ah, of course. Didn't the shows finish in 2005 or something like that?

Anyone had a little look at the public comments on the planning application..?
They’re “interesting”!
I have zero interest in this project (if it can be called a project) but I have to admit that anything to increase the CBeebies offering is a plus. The place gets crazy busy at times!

I think the HipHop towers and Frog Hopper look roughly the same height around 6 metres. I'm not sure who manufactured these ones but I would guess a German or European company.
Once the planning application for drop towers went in it was clear it would either be EITHER
a) over 25metres if in a general development area, or more realistically
B) small tower over 5m but in CBeebies Land.
Something more ambitious, a taller tower that was more thrilling would have been more beneficial for the park's family market. However, on the other side of the coin, its a cheap investment and will spread out crowds from the main hub of the CBeebies area. Anything that can help sustain visitor numbers to the park is a good thing.

Adding these seems "ok". I've got no issue with moving second hand rides around if it makes sense to do so. Not to say that there could be better options than a couple of used frog hoppers but oh well.
The (potential, unconfirmed) loss of CCL, on the other hand, will be IMO a massive blow to the child-friendly offerings AT has.

You say “massive blow”, but there wasn’t really an awful lot of things left to do back there anyway. Project HipHop replaces the need for Frog Hopper and Gallopers Carousel could be moved elsewhere in the park, so that only really leaves us with the loss of the Driving School. Although admittedly, the area has lost a lot of other things in the years running up to now; Twirling Toadstool, Wobble World, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... off the top of my head.Adding these seems "ok". They really need to close the area and work on a proper replacement, the whole area just isn’t up to standard in its current form

Regarding the redevelopment of CCL and potential (temporary?) loss of Driving School;
it is worth noting that Driving School is transportable (except for road layout obviously) and has been setup in a temporary form in various locations as part of the Christmas offerings in the past so there is no real reason that it couldn't move during the area's redevelopment.

I’m surprised they haven’t got a teletubbies attraction or show in CBeebies land. The driving school could replace Spinball in the long term.

Given how Merlin always have their finger on the pulse of the latest fad when it comes to IPs, I'm reasonably confident that we can expect a carousel themed to Muffin The Mule any day now.I’m surprised they haven’t got a teletubbies attraction or show in CBeebies land. Sad it could come to this but maybe closing off the entire CCL area would be a good thing rather than have it as a ghost town, til it can get a proper redesign. It needs to be its own area again, rather than just repaint number 11 of the remains of a past area.
Odd though, I remember when it was very busy as Cred Street and now its abandoned. CCL seemed fine in its first few years, but the driving school blocking the entrance was never a great idea. Really it needs more draw than just a theatre in the main section these days.

Maybe they are doing something with the area now and that’s why froghopper is being replaced elsewhere?

The drop towers may be themed to Peter Rabbit as Alton Towers has the rights to use it. This how will see frog hopper closing and the closure of spinball for an area expansion

You mean they had the license over a decade ago?
