2019: Rulantica

In which case, they'll not allow re entry because otherwise they won't be able to let guests in in event of capacity being reached.

Are these rapids going to work like the ones at many Center Parcs parks around the UK, out of interest? Only asking as the Longleat one is really fun, so if Rulantica's are anything like those, then they should be a great addition!

Sorry double post....

They do seem to be pushing the "Make sure you book in advance" and that tickets are not readily available on the door. but there is a chance that walk up tickets could be available.

I think it's limited to a capacity of around the 5000 mark from what I heard on my recent visit.

The capacity is up to 3,500 people at any one time, with about 5,000 people expected per day.

Source.

It is slightly perturbing that you pay for a day ticket, when in reality it’s slightly less flexible than that. I understand that reserving capacity for those who aren’t intending to re-enter is pointless, but that’s an easy issue to manage by utilising a re-entry pass.

What this rule does do is remove the ability to “park hop”, which for me at least, makes the resort feel less integrated and the proposition less attractive.

I see your point. But imagine that most visitors to Rulantica wanted to do the same as you; visit in the morning, head off to Europa-Park and then back to Rulantica for the evening. That could leave a rather empty waterpark for the whole afternoon! I know that such a scenario is unlikely but it is a secario that they will want to avoid.

To me, it's not something I could spend more than a few hours in before getting bored. Half a day tops. Plus the faff of getting washed / dried / changed rules out going to a water park more than once a day.

In a bizarre turn of events Nick Varney and some Merlin lot have visited Rulantia today.

I genuinely believe that Varney and Co have created so many layers of abstraction within Merlin, what they think is happening and what is actually happening on a park level is totally different. How their decisions actually affect parks on an operational, quality and experience level is a world apart from how they see it on the top of the pile.

The Fanta rubbish with Oblivion a few years ago supports this.

The best way to describe absraction for those who don't know it, is like this.....

If you want to drive your car, imagine the engine and how it works as a metaphore for things at the park level. In order to drive your car, you don't need to have a clue about how the engine works. You need to know how to put the key in the car, put it in gear and use the peddles....your understanding of driving a car is abstracted from the actual physical reality of what makes the car work.

I genuinly believe these sort of Mechanics work within Merlin, as the top brass' genuinely think they are world leading, when the reality is a mountain (and then some) away.

But obviously, the big industry players like them as they are customers, regardless of their good or bad end user experience.

Nice picture though.

Roland looks far too happy to see Nick there!

Rumour has it Nick just signed a big fat cheque to purchase Europa and Rulantica from him...

The Mack family are currently cruising on their new super yacht to scout out locations in the Caribbean for their new private island and beachside mansion.

I’m sure the two events are completely unrelated...

I genuinely believe that Varney and Co are so out of touch with reality, that they think Europa Park is a Merlin attraction. Roland and Co probably don't have the heart to correct someone that delusional, so they are humouring him and playing along.
