As the 2018 season draws to a close and 2019 season passes begin to be advertised for sale at £55, I thought it would be time to start looking ahead to 2019 and what we’re likely to see.
Will Spinball Whizzer be removed to make space for a Cbeebies land expansion with locals and councils pushing for it to go due to noise and height and Alton Towers outlining it to be gone by 2019 in their long term development plan?
Will Cloud Cuckoo Land see a refresh as the dungeons start to seem set to occupy the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride? I don’t think we will see a full retheme as the 2019 pass seems to clearly depict the Cuckoo Cars Driving School on the bottom right of the pass. I think it seems likely that we’ll see a TLC project on the Twirling Toadstool and perhaps new experiences to occupy the old Ice Age 4D cinema and Wobble World buildings.
Will the Dungeons feature a drop tower? I’ve noticed advertising on the park’s queue time boards asking guests “how do you plead?” followed by “Guilty” with a picture of a swinging noose which appears to be in line with the theming and advertising of the Drop Dead ride at the London Dungeons.
Will the Blade and/or Galactica VR be lost to budget cuts or will the Galactica queue line be reworked to allow VR and Non VR riders to separate earlier?
Will Nemesis: Sub-Terra reopen or be refreshed after the appearance of the old Nemesis creature egg randomly in the Project 42 maze without any link to the story showing that it has not been removed?
If the Twirling Toadstool and Dungeons are being funded by TLC and Midway budgets, will we see any new developments from Alton Towers’ own CAPEX budget in 2019 such as flat rides, or will the CAPEX funding subsidise the Dungeons and TLC funding instead as both seem pretty extensive projects?
I’m interested to see what everyone else thinks about all of these possible 2019 developments - even if it seems likely currently that we will be limited to the Dungeons and possibly Twirling Toadstool developments next year.
