2020: Europa-Park General Discussion

The area isn't as well themed as most of the park. Really it is the lake, the boats on it and the restaurant nearby.I never even knew EP had an African area; is this a country within the park, or is it something different?

It's a sort of sub-Adventureland section that doesn't really make much sense in the grand scheme of things. It's easily the tackiest bit of the park and very eighties. Ten years ago, it would have largely been considered cartoonish, but it wouldn't pass with a lot of young people these days, POC and otherwise. Given that the park also made sensible alterations to depictions on the boat ride, they probably should have re-considered that mannequin and sign given recent movements, but then, I've never really anticipated theme parks to have much of an eye on social justice trends.

Was this section built back when EP seemed to have more of a fascination with emulating the Disney parks than they do now, in the same era as things like Geisterschloss, Eurosat and original Piraten in Batavia, amongst other things?
Yes, absolutely, that's very much the style. It definitely wouldn't have been built this season, and I doubt it will be around next...

It’s probably the worse bit of the park now in terms of rubbish theming and outdated. It surely must be on the to do list to retheme. It needs a new country and new area really. Can easily keep the boat ride but it needs starting from scratch in terms of the theming and area.

I’m going on Sunday, arriving that evening and staying at Hotel Kronosar. Will be on park Monday and Tuesday for the first time. Very excited. Any tips? I’ll get ERT as a hotel guest so guess I should hit up Blue Fire first but what should be my plan of attack after that?
We visited last week and went for two rides of Blue Fire, then into the Wodan queue about 8:45. Quick fingers on the virtual queue on the app got us a second ride on Wodan straight away when the virtual queues opened at 9, and then got us quickly onto the other virtual queue rides throughout the day.

Pirates in Batavia is the new ride for 2020 replacing the old Pirates in Batavia boat ride that burnt down two years ago. I don't think anything else has changed since I went in November except the Covid changes that will go next season (hopefully). Can i just have a recap on what's new or refurbished or reopened or rethemed for this season please?

Thanks for letting me know. I wonder their next coaster will be and what it'll be!

Unfortunately I think corona and also the pirates fire would have delayed what plans they had. I guess we may have had a coaster or something major this season if it wasn’t for the fire.

Need to focus on re-developing adventure land first before a new coaster or any other developments.
This is already the case. It's definitely in the current cycle. I would imagine we'll see the re-work of the jungle raft attraction, then the new coaster with the area developed the following year, then a Euro-Mir re-work around 2025. On top of this, a new hotel and further Rulantica development around 2023/24.

I suppose it’s quite a big bit of land If you include lake with both boat rides, the food outlet, spices, crocodile bar and the kids water play area. Could easily build a coaster across the lake, but if they did I imagine it would be a small family one and nothing major due to the location.

I think a coaster around the lake would be an intrusion. There are some wonderfully relaxing spots there at the moment, which could be ruined by introducing a ride that is not as sedate as the rafts or African Queen.
I’d like the he Crocodile Bar to remain in its current guise as it’s a wonderfully themed environment with the intermittent rain storms.

On Thomas Macks Twitter he says that Spices is ready to now reopen, and will open with Indian weeks.
