I think I'd take a quiet day 10 - 4 over a crazy busy day with extended hours. Especially if we weren't staying over and with the capacity restrictions still in place.

I'm sure there will be a great atmosphere and hats off to the park for doing it, but 1 hour+ waits with inconsiderate people is not something I would be relishing pre-vaccination.

Image of the Funk'n'Fly complete with Retrosquad theming. I think its safe to say there'll be no garish fairground graphics on these rides!

Whilst it still looks a bit out of place, it's not as bad as I (and I suspect many others) anticipated. It will be interesting
to see the others properly.

I love it!! I'm so happy they've decided to give the rides at least a little themeing, and again I think this is indicating a bigger 80s theme around the park to come

Lets be honest there is zero theming. Zilch. None.

But it is certainly a clever way of incorporating these ‘pop up’ rides around the park, providing they really push this Retro Squad message (I think they will).

I'm confused as to what you mean as this ride from the picture has been themed to the 80s retrosquad theme. This ride, and so I assume the other pop up rides, hasn't been left to their original state, and so have been themed.

Well it still looks like a fairground ride. That attempt at theming is poor
Really?? What did you expect, for them to spend six/seven figure sums on new rockwork and extensive theming for these new temporary flat rides?

Looks good to me. They've given it its own branding and it is going to be playing a bespoke soundtrack. That is far more than I anticipated when I first heard they were getting some travelling rides in!

I think 'stylised' is probably a more accurate term, but either way, it's fine.

Yeah it doesn't look too bad - it was clear from the 80s marketing that it wouldn't be themed in to match the area it was in, but the stylisation they've done is fine.

Better than I was expecting, if we are honest they were never going to spend money theming what is an experiment. They are seeing how well these flats do before investing in my opinion.

the styling of it around retrosquad is good and its nice to be giving them a compliment on putting some new flats in.
Because no doubt we would be slaughtering them for not doing anything and complaining about the lack of flats if they hadn't done it

Some people are never happy!

Enthusiasts complained: not enough flat rides. Towers provided some.
Enthusiasts complain: "too fairground-like". Towers rebrand/style/theme the rides.
Enthusiasts complain: don't want pop music spoiling the area. Towers provides custom audio.
Enthusiasts complain: theming not good enough. Towers response should be "It's better than nothing". In that context they'd be fully justified saying that.

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I don't like the whole retrosquad theme. For the money they spent covering the fairground graphics up, they could've just blended them in with the area. I think it's a mistake drawing attention to the fact they are fairground flats.

It's a small personal criticism though, can't knock their existence, location placement or the fact they've tried to at least explain the fact they're not what you'd expect from the usual lineup in a park such as Towers with a well thought out marketing campaign. At least it gives me confidence they're on the same wavelength as many of us.

That's a fair point but I wouldn't be surprised if they steered away from blending them into the areas (theming to the areas I guess) as that could've given the false impression that the rides are here to stay.

At least with what they have done, the can continue this backstory at the end of the season (in the fireworks maybe) saying that "Planet Retrograde want their rides back" and that would explain them leaving the park at the end of the season.

So the twister is still there I see, I wonder if they'll be added to the queue times or if we'll just have to guess whilst we're on park how long the wait is.

Yep, the twister is clearly visible in TWoDW. It’ll be interesting to see what (if any) theming / styling they give it and if it’s going to be themed to be included within the retrosquad or not.
At the moment it’s just the ride images there with no click out to view ride info/queue times etc but maybe they’re still developing this for the temporary ride - it was only half an hour ago that they were added.

All 4 flats now have the proper “pop outs” on the app with full descriptions, so I assume they’ll also get queue times like the permanents.
