Anyone know if you can exit the park via the Galactica entrance or Woodland Walk at the moment? If so, what times? Thanks :)
The Galactica entrance is currently functioning as a hotel guest entrance, so I’m not 100% sure on whether day guests would be allowed to exit through it.

In terms of Woodland Walk; it didn’t look very open when I was there yesterday. The path looked quite overgrown, and there wasn’t even any indication that it ever existed. So in that regard, I’d guess that the Woodland Walk isn’t presently open for guests.

It’s mentioned on the park map though so they must intend to have it operational!
Alton Towers have just published a new blog and the downloadable version of this year's park map if anyone wants a closer look.

The blog mentions some further accessibility changes, especially in Gloomy Wood, which now has an accessible toilet and new ramps for Duel. Also the Garden Centre in the conservatories is remaining open for now.

we used the galactica exit on our visit on Wednesday, had no issues whatsoever. I don’t think they have a problem with day guests using it to exit from what I’ve seen in the past. It’s only upon entrance it’s exclusively for hotel guests, and rightly so.

I wouldn't imagine there's any intention of opening the woodland walk before the hotels are open next month. Even with the lodges and sheds in use I wouldn't think there's currently enough footfall at that end of the resort to justify having two dedicated gates open for overnight guests.

Just noticed this on Twitter. Let’s hope the feedback from guests helps them build a business case for more permanent flat rides.

Let's hope so! We've just got to hope guests actually give positive feedback - which in this case I'd actually take them moaning the queue is too long in their feedback, because then that should strike whoever is reading the responses that flats are actually popular.

It says the tweet is unavailable for me... what does it say?
Same here, but it works if you click on it. :)

Fantastic that they are actively requesting guest feedback! Makes the chance of them getting a permanent Smashing Jump next season/in the future more and more likely. :D

There we go :)

They need to cap the queues for the other coasters when they hit capacity like they do on the smiler. Someone I know had been today and Rita, Th13teen and Nemesis queues all spilling out the entrance. Nemesis queue was past sub terra at one point apparently
I get the point but where do you draw the line? If half of the big coasters have closed queues for much of the day it’s not great.

X-sector is crowded at the best of times so it’s understandable to shut smiler periodically because of distancing. But forbidden valley and dark forest has a bit more room to spill out into if needed

I think a replacement Wave Swinger (good for all the family), a Smashing Jump, a Top Scan and Gyro Swing (I know height might be an issue for this) would be my top picks for new permanent flats now. I think all 4 would be super popular, I'd have the Smashing Jump in X Sector, the Top Scan in Dark Forest, the Gyro Swing in Forbidden Valley and the Wave Swinger in TWoDW themed in somehow. Maybe wishful thinking but I'd love for this to happen!

I would go for something similar, would love a top scan however I think they will stick with rides with 1,2m height for any future flat rides in immediate future as also helps fix lack of rides for those that not yet 1.4m but outgrown CBeebies. A zamperla discovery like the new one at paultons would just about fit with their height restrictions and would work on the site of ripsaw I would think.

I can however see them prob getting a package from one supplier like Zamperla and getting a multi ride deal. Could see them going with a Discovery for ripsaw site, wave swinger for David Williams area, one of the new Nebulaz models (unique to the uk and looks good offride) in either dark Forrest or xsector and then maybe some kind of spinning ride like the new gryphon model (again unique to the uk) or maybe one of the new super air race models(although unique to the uk and slightly different to a normal air race but again might be to high thrill for what they want), or a themed sombrero ride.

in terms of marketing if they added 4 in one season (not sure they would get the budget to do it though
In one season) especially if all themed into the lands. They could market with short adverts for each ride, and some kind of message highlighting 1 of 4 new rides and some kind of challenge to ride all 4.

A gyroswing would have to be substatially sunk down into the ground in order to meet the tree height rule. Blade's plot would probably be best suitred to one of those as it'a already below ground level.

Felt the overall quality of the merchandise seems to have reduced, usually like to buy a new magnet or similar. And £5 for a pin badge!

Amazingly now (from 5 years ago) I'd have to say Pleasure Beach is doing a much better range of interesting products (just look at the options for the 125th anniversary compared to Towers 40th).

Amazed they haven't got something like the coaster Dynamix sets, or even ride car models.

Yesterday was busy at Alton - felt busier than any day since Covid struck. A few observations:

- More F&B capacity needed. On later closes, people will take time out and Welcom-Inn had a 40 minute queue for a table.

- 8pm was a godsend. Had yesterday been 5 or 6pm, the complaints would have flooded in

- WM is superb currently

- Operations and throughputs largely good across the park relative to c-19 times.

- Smiler is currently holding a 60 to 70 minute queue in ALL extensions to the entrance before it 'closes for capacity

- Nemesis Airgates still permanently open. The batching situation is reducing throughput by 1/3 temporarily

- Throughput on Mixtape is dreadful

- Alton in the sun is superb

- More variety in street entertainment please

- Great meal at Woodcutters! I recommend the steak (had this Monday) and chicken & Ribs (had this yesterday) , would be good to see a salad return

- Rita queue line looks much better

- New tshirt/hoody quality is higher than before

- To hell with 13

Smiler was absolutely not 60-70 minutes yesterday! From the entrance to the second time the queue is parallel to the fasttrack line (way before the vending machines ) took us 90 minutes before we relented and left - this was despite trains constantly running with guests ! Shocking allocations for FT and RAP and no SD announcements
