Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like them. They really took you out of the immersion personally. It felt really cheap as well.
What immersion though? The majesty of the 30+ year old broken Huss Enterprise? The thematic delight's (and fences) of Dark Forest/Ug Land painted grey? The seamless transition between a post apocalyptic monster and a generic "space" themed coaster that doesn't actually have any space theming?

Festival of Thrills certainly wasn't a festival and it wasn't thrilling. But before there was nothing. Just the same old dreary permanent themes season after season.

Festival of Thrills was better than what it replaced though, which was the Festival of Nothing.
Yeah but the park is fine without that event, love Oktoberfest and Mardi gras though.
In my opinion scarefest could do with all of the money that goes into festival of thrills instead and then more money on top of that to make scarefest a class event again.

I personally thought Festival of Thrills was ok. It was inoffensive, and provided a bit of extra entertainment. All of the singing acts were actually quite good, and it filled a gap of there being nothing there before. I think some of you are being overly harsh but there we go. On the busier days guests would get involved with the more upbeat ones. If they can put a better event in its place then I'm all for it, but if not then I'll have it over nothing in its place again. It was Scarefest that was the weakest event last year, and I'd have thought that needs attention before an event that was only in it's first year. You'd be wrong to have expected a Mardi Gras or Oktoberfest scale of event. But it is what it is.

Looks like Towers have changed their photo system slightly this year, so it's directly on the app instead of a website

Are the football score updates on the app now?
No. Because Man City could be loosing 2-1 but the app would say 5-0 up and a whole thread of people would believe that was the case and see it worthwhile discussing it despite not being affected by it whatsoever.

"I'm 200 miles away in an important uni lecture, but looking at the app, I see that Man City are 5-0 up against Wolves. Is Adama Traoré running on 2 legs or 1?"

The lineup is announced! Same as last year but interesting "The Smiler Takeover" in the Festival of Thrills. I guess connected to it's 10th birthday.

I'm thinking maybe instead of the random little stages round the park there could be a main one in XSector. Then presumably if it is successful we could be looking at a Nemesis takeover the following season with the stage over there instead.

As much as I love that they're celebrating the Smilers 10th Anniversary, my reaction to Festival of Thrills and Mardi Gras returning was:

There's just too many events at the park I think. I think the only good event they made after Covid was Oktoberfest, and this is coming from someone who hates alcohol. The event gives the park such a lovely mood and fits in really well, while I think Mardi and Thrills feel very shoehorned in and don't suit the park at all IMO.

We loved the Mardi Gras event, I have never seen so many performers at Towers, the kids had to stop at each stage for a dance and the opening/closing shows were great fun.

Festival of Thills I would agree with but it seems the format is changing so Towers obviously know this didn't work.

Funny isn’t it. When I went to Mardi Gras I didn’t see one actor, no music and certainly no carnival atmosphere!

Also thinking about it, if Alton have raised their food and drink prices astronomically this year in the park I dread to think what prices the food caravans will be charging this year at these events on the lawns!

Why can having more entertainment to watch be a bad thing? If you don't like that entertainment then keep walking past.
Because they're pretty much in a lot of the areas of the park and I think they ruin the immersion a lot. I'd rather go to the park on a daybwhen these events aren't on personally so I can't take in the parks immersion. I know, boring right.

I think its a big step up as only 3/4 years ago we had 3 events every year and they were all near the end of the season. I'm glad to see events throughout the year, and not just at the end. Also on the business side of things the new events have probably enticed people back to the park after Covid.
