2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

Apart from the darkened hide and seek section, another factor I hear is in the doll's house scene with all the props in there such as the Flume Duck (or Uncle Duck I think he is called now) being that there is too much going on and that maybe they can simply take some of the props out of there and place them elsewhere around the ride and I did think how the Flume Duck could be used for a true jump scare rather than just a fun Easter egg in the background which in all honesty you barely see him unless you are looking closely.

Maybe during the darkened section, you could have the Flume Duck moved towards the end of the scene with him suddenly appearing with a demonic quaking sound that would make that section have something of a pay of and the darkened section could still work as a build up with the duck taking you off guard that would help with the jump scare. It would actually be quite easy to do as all they have to do is move him to that area of the ride, add a strobe lighting effect along with the demonic quake and he'd be once again scaring riders again and would generally catch people off guard.

I’m quite certain you would just have Alton Towers filled entirely with Flume Ducks at this point. Half expecting you to pop up in the Sub Terra thread proposing the disco eggs are replaced by quacking duck eggs.

This.

And this.

But publicity is publicity and people are still flocking to ride it and have their own say.

I think it will prove to have been a success for the park, regardless of a few contrary opinions on social media while it's flavour of the week.
Indeed, and it's the "new" ride of the year for Alton,

I think the finale has a lot of old theming stock like the duck to bulk it up, which is fine.

Pretty sure the Rapids Ride has a small rubber duck on the right-hand side as you leave the station.

Every ride should have a hidden duck, it would be like the Usborne books - for those of us old enough to remember them.

Sounds great that there still adding and tweaking affects! Another peppers ghost effect of Emily in the hurst sounds interesting is this verified?

Also is the smoke in the Queline still there?

Yes, Emily appears in the hearse. I didn't see smoke in the queue yesterday, it's likely an off-peak thing to keep effects switched off, as Wicker Man's flames were also off.

Rode a few times for the first time since opening day today, definitely seems to be ongoing tweaking. I know a number of these have been mentioned before but just some of my own observations following my first ride:-

- the scare where the rat demon used to be is much better lit, in fact perhaps too well lit as the sliding mechanism it sits on is now very obvious. It is a hooded creature suspended underneath a sliding mechanism that moves towards you.
- the “lets play hide and seek” section’s audio seems to be much clearer, “I’m over here” on one turn followed by “maybe I’m here” on the next turn
- addition of the Emily figure with her shadow turning into a demon
- jump scare on the screen prior to the mirror corridor is no longer static and is an animated Emily. There is also a pirouetting doll which may have been here before but just not noticed
- Screaming Heads much better lit and obvious however still no audio which would be good. The demon where Tigger used to be shoots smoke from its mouth
- Peppers Ghost Emily in the hearse

Overall much better than opening day ride!

Anyone know where this came from, no doubt it's the duck that was in the bath tub? It's the sort of thing I would do, take pity on the one lonely little duck sitting by itself in a dark shed for the past 5 years when getting out the big one for Alton Manor.

Just ridden Alton Manor, and wow, I absolutely loved it! The Emily in the mirror effect did not work this time though. I will post a full review after a few re-rides.

Does the mirror always shatter at the end of the corridor after the attic? I didn't experience this in my first five rides.
