Looking good

Seems an odd choice to release this now given it would make some good news over winter, unless AT are concerned about it leaking regardless. Or perhaps bigger plans are afoot for fireworks and beyond

No surprise to see the colour scheme of the trains change to match the new colours of the coaster. It would love for these trains to have LED lights as per the trains on Monster at Gröna Lund, but those lights are very bright and Towers isn't really open that much in the dark, so I guess it is unlikely.

No, but the requirements for the non destructive testing that is required by law on structures such as these trains, mandate that the paint would have to be fully stipped so the nessicary checks and repairs could be completed.

Just how the rest of the old track on Nemesis, the lift, station and breaks have been sandblasted back to bare metal....they never just painted over them did they, so unsure what pont you are making.
Except they were never stripped of paint previously during seasonal testing. It’s possible to test for cracks under a paint layer provided it’s not too thick.

Literally something LTC specialise in (the company that provide yearly testing for AT)

But you missed one crucial thing, what is happening right now, is not seasonal testing. This is a major complete overhaul of the entire attraction. One of the important parts of the sandblasting process was not only to remove the paint, but to remove small areas where corrosion will have built up. 30 year old steel will have corrosion, usually small if the paint job was good, but it usually always has it in metal this age. This happens even in areas where the paint application was good, even more so in areas that have been scratched or damaged. This cannot be done with paint on. This type of work is not testing for cracks, fatigue, but removing corrosion.

When work this extensive is being carried out on Nemesis, there is no choice in the matter, the train chassis, (if they were refurbished) and existing track all have to be sandblasted and repainted, it is not a choice, it is a requirement. If the company carrying out the work believed they had a choice, they would soon be removed of their qualifications and permits to allow them to do this type of work. As the work done will be inspected and signed off by an independent body, exactly for this reason. Chances are not taken, specifically when this machine will be used primarily by the public.

Could be wrong but to me that big hole in the station might be for some sort of theming feature rather than changing the exit location. Just love the idea of two big animated eyes looking into/out of the station. if a Nemesis has two eyes that is 🤔

I was always a huge fan of the old nemesis colour scheme, it was different to anything we'd seen before or since and fit the theme/landscape perfectly.

I'm trying to put nostalgia aside and I have to say I love the new trains, they look fantastic. That said however, I still cant get on board with the track. I like the black and red, but the veins just don't work for me. I've seen a few people warm to them, or change their mind after seeing in person, so I've been holding out hope the same would happen for me, but even after going to the park I still just think it looks very fairground unfortunately.

There's still time so hopefully I'll grow to like them. As I said, the trains look brilliant.

You literally don’t know this to be true, the trains could not even be refurbished, it could literally be a lick of paint and some new polyurethane restraint padding.

A refurb doesn’t specifically mean down to nuts and bolts and hard inspected by multiple independant bodies (seeing as Merlin hire an internal body to check their hardware anyway)

It could be a refurb with just a new paint job.

Unless you work internally and have access to the design and production docs, you don’t know what’s happening with the trains.

What started as a simple joke at Merlin’s expense from me has turned into a semi serious debate from you. Let’s move on?

Yes please, let's move on. The only hard evidence related to the trains is the Bianca quote in which she clearly states they are "new ride trains".

Until there's anything else can we please discuss other things? Thank you!

Waterfalls probably won't need much doing to them probably a pvc sealing agent to stop the concrete weathering away but other than that the pumps should be fine and the pipes well there already pvc with a lifetime guarantee
Tho what Ide like to see is the transfer pipes to the top ether painted red or black as thay accend to the top like vains

I don’t think the pumps are fine but I doubt changing them is going to be an obvious activity. It will just be one of those things that occurs over the closed season.

I love a good debate yes. Apologies if you took offence. Non intended at all. 😊

As was said, lets move on, goimg back to the waterfalls, does anyone actually know where the waterfalls pumps live? I could never work it out. I'm assuming near the station somewhere?

Was just watching UK Theme Park's gallery of photos from the weekend and this one stood out in particular.

The fake track at the end of that leg (right at the end of the the loop bridge) has either been replaced or fixed and repainted to match the new real track. So I'd assume the rest of them will be returning too with some sort of gradient from the station's grey colour to the black of the fake track.

On my visit this time last week they were messing about with look like speakers or something else similar on top of the entrance tower. That was no signs of any repainting though
