[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

If it is delayed I'm good with that as long as they don't cut things out and leave an unfinished project.
Completely agree! I think we'd all prefer a slight delay and a complete Nemesis instead of a hastily rushed Nemesis just for opening weekend. Saying that, I still think Towers should be aiming for an opening weekend debut for the ride simply to bring some much needed capacity, throughput and ride availability back into the park.

If a delay is inevitable though, hopefully it won't be too much of a wait!

It also strikes me this project seems to be rather behind schedule. Time will tell though. They have about 8 weeks to go to turn a building site into a fully themed ride experience.

Seems odd considering for what they’re working on, within reason you can chuck bodies at (paving, general building work, putting up fences etc)

The bit I’d imagine they’d be stretched is if they need more specialist skills from MMM or external contractors.

But there’s not a lot external contractors won’t do for money.

Considering how long the track has been finished for with some pushing they’ve had chance

Considering the last update was end of December I’m not too worried. They need about a month for commissioning testing and a few weeks for training. If they start testing before end of Jan then I think it will be fine.

It's not just testing that could be the issue though... If the ride hardware and system is ready but the station is not then they'd have to delay it.

The lack of an opening date at this stage doesn’t really concern me. Ever since The Smiler opening shenanigans they have been far more cautious when it comes to confirming exact opening dates ahead of time.

A quick google suggests an opening date wasn’t announced for Curse until 15th Feb, and for Wickerman it wasn’t until 1st March, and both of those opened with the season.

Plenty of time yet. If the painting is behind because of the recent rain, once they finish that the testing can go on through the night if needs be to catch up.

I would imagine if training time is tight they could potentially lean on Thorpe for training on Inferno?
Does Inferno have the new-style op panel though? Nemmy 2.0 has been given that so I would have thought they'd need to train on a coaster with the same panel style.

Selfishly, my attitude towards an opening date is the same as it it towards release dates for upcoming games. I don't care if I have to wait longer if it mean's they need the time to get it right.

Then again, that's no good for anyone planning a trip in advance for opening day, and it's probably no good for AT to be wishy-washy on dates when attracting guests to experience their new ride, that isn't actually new, it's 30 years old...

On a side-thought, this will probably be marketing's toughest year yet...

But there’s not a lot external contractors won’t do for money.

Seems almost daily that another construction company has gone under, so such things clearly aren't working.

I'd imagine the weather has played havoc with things. Especially given the somewhat awkward location of the project.

Then again it's random assumptions based on no internal knowledge of what the goal date beyond opening day.

And we have potentially got snow this week too. All brings back memories of Oblivion, ERT starting when it should have ended, block pavers still using "whackers" to put in the sand as guests were running into X-Sector. Queueline flower beds full of abandoned building materials. Fast forward 4 years and exactly the same on Air.

They learnt their lesson with Rita & were not hell-bent on a first day of season opening - they opened the ride when it was actually ready. Let's see how history repeats itself in a "Reborn" form!
Off topic but now that I remember, wasn't Thirteen's queueline finished with just a few hours before opening IIRC? But yeah, Towers does seem to have this problem dating all the way back since Tussauds.

Wicker Man was the first project to seemingly finish on time

Don't suppose anyone here has nice hi res photos for this angle of Nemesis?

Looking for new desktop wallpaper material and google has failed me

I'm pretty sure those are post-repaint, the supports were much lighter and with more rust effects before they repainted it - rcdb has a lot of older photos for comparison.

What's going on by the front leg at the top right of the picture? Looks like in the promo clip with the pincers where it grabs the support?
Looks exactly like that. . .

So they've converted the front right leg to a pincer. . An out of proportion one at that and the front left leg is still . . .a leg. Despite in the promo its got 2 pincers. .🙄

Oh the continuity!

Were those pictures taken before the TLC repaint? Because if not, thank god they're doing up the station, I didn't realise how decrepit it looked.

Taken April 2022, so not too long before it's closure.
