[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

That’s a bigger difference than I imagined! It makes you wonder why they’re going to all the extra expense to fill the track with sand. If official complaints were raised from local residents in the past 28 years then surely they’d have been forced to do it before now? Makes you wonder whether this is being done as leverage for other developments. “We did this on our own back so let us do this” type of thing.

I think this is just more of a general ethos of being a good neighbour. If they can find ways of reducing their impact on the surrounding area (in this case noise) then they will try and do it.

It helps them to build trust and goodwill with the local residents and councillors for any future plans.

Here is hoping they find a way for the station facade to avoid rotting

it was only re done a few years ago and is already in a right state

Re sand - I’m happy to go with it if it gets a few points in the bag for future development I’m more concerned that the original paintwork remains on the track.

Any ideas on the budget for this? It’s got to be millions

I think there was a post a few pages back that said the raw material would cost around £3m to £4m, but then you’ve got the cost of labour, plant hire and a whole host of other expenses

As for a closure of the ride, there's an assumption being made that this will put the ride out of action for a season. I'm not even sure if this would be the case. They may choose to split works over multiple closed seasons, or they could do one extended closure into May so it's ready for the main Summer season. I wouldn't write off 2023 as the year Nemesis will be completely shut just yet!
I think this is certainly an option that people seem to be overlooking. I think it could easily be done in and extended closed season.
I think if they hit the press hard with it with ads and news broadcasts, the gp would want to purely to ride it again, They won't market it as a new ride but more

'Nemesis is back! Ride if you dare'
'Fall back in love with Nemesis'
on the ads

hammer the local news with it and id dare say some sort of documentary on channel 4
I'd say it would be marketed something along these lines. Attempting to make it clear that is the same however new and revitalised. Presume they'll use words like reborn and remerged from the ground. There are plenty of people I know who would quite happily go back to Towers to ride nemesis. It has somewhat of a reputation even among non enthusiasts as being the thrill coaster in the UK. I know quite a few people who when you say roller-coaster there minds go straight to nemesis. I think it's clear a new version would do well.
I thought the announcements are great
I agree I really don't mind the announcements and I quite like them. They could do with being re-recorded to bring up to a better standard.

This is very true. The station looks great when it's freshly painted but it doesn't seem to last. I think the simple solution is for them to take proper care of it.

This is my take on it too. If it's there as a bargaining counter in future plans than I'm perfectly happy for it. It'll be a shame to loose it but realistically isn't going to change the experience too much.

Would it not be possible to close Nemesis in early September after the summer holidays, start work and then have it reopen for the following summer. That seems like a reasonable timescale to me and would give the park the capacity it needs in the peak mid season period without the ride needing to miss a summer.

When Universal redid Hulk, the ride closed in September and reopened the following summer, and they have a lot more track and supports to replace than Nemesis.

I think they would be better off closing it at the end of the season (so that they retain the capacity for Scarefest and Fireworks) and working through til May time.

The March-May period is quieter than Sep-Nov so would have less impact.

Sorry if this is a stupid question… the application is all about the track but will it be the same trains? Is that likely or not?

The application is only to confirm that they can do work to the permanent structures in the area (track and supports). Anything else such as trains isn’t classed as a physical structure so they could make changes without permission provided there would be no substantial difference in noise levels.
