[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Or, this and Sub-Terra next season serving as the completion of this current story, and it re-opening with a complete re-theme, new name and all. In the 5 Live interview John did say "It'll be closing through next year, and then opening again in 2024 as....." and then seemed to stop himself as if he had or was going to say too much.

That’s very interesting and something we haven’t really talked about on here, is there a chance that (as outlandish as the idea might seem) that Merlin could retire the Nemesis name and give the ride a new one when it reopens in 2024?

It seems unthinkable and would be quite a controversial move but it would allow them to market it as though it were a new ride and a lot of their social posts last week were making reference to “Getting your last rides in on Nemesis” or words to that effect.

I doubt they'd give it a new name, but I don't think a moniker is inconceivable. Similar to how Colossos became Colossos: Kampf der Giganten.

Perhaps 'Son of Nemesis' or something like that? I'd doubt they would go that far, then again it would not be the first time as there was the case of Black Hole when it returned after an overhaul it was called 'The New Black Hole' before then being called 'Black Hole II' before going back to good old 'Black Hole'. Seemed a bit pointless in the end with hindsight.

I've heard "Phalanx" bandied around. Whatever happens though, she'll always be Nemmy to me.

I've got a good idea. How about they call it 'Nemesis' and theme it around an alien creature that lay dormant for years under a mysterious site which ancient texts describe as a site of unusual cult worship dating back thousands of years? The site is disturbed and the creature emerges from its slumber, reaching out it's tenticles to feed and leaving a site of destruction before it's pinned down with steel?

A bit out there I know, but it might just work.

I do agree though, I can't imagine Nemmy with a different name. It's unchangeable in my opinion.

Personally I think it needs a new back story, Nemesis vs Phalanx, with Jason Statham as the cockney geezer head of Phalanx operations.

They could play videos in the queue of Statham making witty cockney comments whilst shooting at stuff.

I think the name changing would be the one thing that I'd be really sad about! Genuinely think Nemesis is the coolest name for any roller coaster out there.
