I thought that as soon as I saw the title lol. Was interesting to see what they got up to though. One of the last 32 riders. He forgot the plural.
I think with what they did on the last day and the lead up to it with all the Phalanx stuff, it will either be a continuation of the story, so all of the backstory will still be there but with this continuing it. Or, this and Sub-Terra next season serving as the completion of this current story, and it re-opening with a complete re-theme, new name and all. In the 5 Live interview John did say "It'll be closing through next year, and then opening again in 2024 as....." and then seemed to stop himself as if he had or was going to say too much. You can hear it here (at 3:20 if it doesn't automatically go to the correct time):I hope that when Nemmy reopens after the retrack, the original backstory will remain with perhaps some added theming, and as little of the Phalanx as possible.
In this video, while waiting for the last train, you can see the monorail stops too, which was a nice touch. Either that or it coincidentally broke down at the right place!

Another interview about it closing, from Andy Hine
At around 2 hours 49 minutes here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001dwcm
Or here if you would prefer
Funny you should say that, I have suggested that JW should be getting not just a MBE but a knighthood for what he has done for the theme park industry in this country."Demented ski-lift"
If Andy Hine can get an MBE for services to tourism, John Wardley should be eligible too as his creations and work have helped tourism surely?
I was thinking about that. Even a statue of him outside Nemesis would be a nice tribute. On another note, heaven above when he does pass on, he won't need one of those blue plagues attached to a house to remember him by...Nemesis and (hopefully if they are still running by then) the other attractions he designed will be what we'll have to remember him by, much like how Brunel's engineering works that still stand today are tribute to him.
Well here's where you nominate for honours https://www.gov.uk/honoursIf they do stick a statue of John somewhere in the park I think a perfect one would be, like the statues of people sat on benches with an empty space next to them, a statue of him sat in a Nemesis seat (restraint down) with the test seat next to it.
Somehow a conventional statue just doesn't seem fitting for someone like him. Oh and do it before he shuffles off this mortal coil, sick of waiting until someone has gone before you celebrate their greatness.
Perhaps they could use some of the old Nemesis track as theming?Wouldn't it be nice if Alton Towers kept a little bit of the track, maybe the corkscrew or Helix and either worked it into the current entrance or placed it somewhere else. I mean, they have a whole coaster of spare track.
Corkscrew is what heralded the start of what we know as Alton Towrs today and Nemesis is what really cemented the park as a destination. It would be a shame if they didn't place some of the track somewhere, a missed opportunity for sure.
Building upon this idea, maybe they could change the entrance to a ripped-up old track piece, similar to what Universal Orlando did with Hulk? It would certainly fit the theme, and it would make for a cracking visual centrepiece, in my opinion!Wouldn't it be nice if Alton Towers kept a little bit of the track, maybe the corkscrew or Helix and either worked it into the current entrance or placed it somewhere else. If they keep the same theme it would be good to see some of the old track replace the fake bits of track that are currently there coming out of the monster.Wouldn't it be nice if Alton Towers kept a little bit of the track, maybe the corkscrew or helix and either worked it into the current entrance or placed it somewhere else. Corkscrew is what heralded the start of what we know as Alton Towers today and Nemesis is what really cemented the park as a world class destination. It would be a shame if they didn't place some of the track somewhere, a missed opportunity for sure. As both Corkskew and Nemesis are not just any old coasters in terms of their lineup.
Was going to say that and wouldn't be suprised of that's the case though there is the question of are they going to sell bits of the track first to the public?Building upon this idea, maybe they could change the entrance to a ripped-up old track piece, similar to what Universal Orlando did with Hulk?
