[2024] Voltron Nevera | Mack Stryker Coaster

I doubt they are any worse than last year; the bottom line is the ride is not as smooth as you would hope for a modern, Mack coaster. It was the same on day 1 and it's the same now - total pot luck.

I was not aware of any 'rail work' going on unfortunately?

Unfortunately, in spite of Mack's efforts with bracing on these trains, it seems that trains with wing seats are rarely, if ever, going to be as smooth as regular trains. It's science, I guess. Add in the fact that Voltron is also a very intense coaster, and you have a recipe for these issues.

There was footage of what looked to be minor rail grinding work happening, lost to the bowels of the internet but if I find it I will post it.

Still excellent, just frustrating when you can have a really good ride followed by a poor ride.

Track was ground down in some areas before opening, and from what I've seen over on EP Friends the trains are still running a mix of summer and winter wheels. It's been decided that row 3 is not the place to be there as well 😂

MVP business right there finding that. I couldn't find it at all.

Row 3 wing seats are not a place to be. Didn't get Row 4 so can't compare though.

Thanks for sharing. I am visiting next week so will report back if I feel it's any different to my rides last year.

The curious thing about the rattle/bounce is that it’s not consistently bad; some trains seem a lot better than others. One can’t therefore say it’s just a product of the trains having wing seats. There has to be something specific about the rattly trains and one would assume something they can do about it.

It’s disappointing to hear that it doesn’t sound like whatever adjustments they’ve made over closed season hasn’t eradicated the issue. I’m sure it’s not through lack of trying to address the issue, but it is flummoxing to comprehend exactly what the issue is on those specific trains.

Wing coasters will always have some degree of rattle/bounce. It is science/engineering (vibration analysis at uni taught me this).

Obviously the design of the wing system affects it greatly. It's why Baco is terrible and the B&Ms are variable but still bounce. Having the wing system above the track is generally worse because the forces aren't aligned, and I'd imagine having the seating in one row makes it a bit weirder calculation wise.

Might just be Mack pushed things a bit too far with Voltron.

It's definitely a strange one. I still haven't ridden it since last May (will be riding again this weekend/early next week) but of my many rides last year they were all fine. Nothing close to being unbearable.

But clearly some trains have been worse than others and wing seats on any coaster are never going to be as smooth as seats directly over the track, that is just physics.

I am surprised that they've not been able to determine what makes some trains fine and other not, and then ensure all trains are configured in the same way. Inconstancies when they were manufactured perhaps? I suppose it is not totally unusual for other coasters to have one "good" train and one "not so good" train.
