[2024] Voltron Nevera | Mack Stryker Coaster

Having just returned from a 6 day Germany trip (3 days Phantasialand, 3 days Europa Park), Voltron is straight on my "no ride" list.

1st ride was on an outer seat - vibrated like anything & headache-inducing. 2nd (& last) ride on a middle seat & not much better. I am used to taking punishment on rollercoasters (travel a lot to do so) but this was too much. I rank Voltron along with the former Gwazi incarnations at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Rough, rattly, not fun to ride at all.

But if Voltron keeps the queue away from Wodan, Blue Fire & Silverstar then I am all for it.

I've just returned from a Europa trip myself and rode Voltron twice. Inside seat both times and it was pretty smooth. Very intense, yes, but not rattly. I must have been lucky! Two of my group rode on an outside seat though, and came off with headaches. Personally I absolutely loved Voltron, and it's now my favourite coaster!

Finally, someone with sense! 😃

I find that some rides on Voltron were glass smooth and others were very rough.

I find the consistency exactly the same with Hyperia as well so not sure if it's a Mack thing for it's newest coasters 🤔

Have we all just returned from Europa?

I've done a fair bit more 'testing' of Voltron this week and I still can't say I found it rough. The outer seats can be more intense, yes. I think the braking for the turntable has been tamed since last year, thankfully.

Euro-Mir is the only rough ride in the park imo, especially the brake run if facing backwards.

Just watching the TPWW video on how rough Hyperia has become and he mentioned that "it's nowhere near Voltrons level of unrideable roughness. If i'm allocated certain seats on Voltron i'd leave the queue rather than ride it" which seems rather damning....

Bizarre opinion and a lesson in not taking his opinion as gospel I think. Hyperia is consistently unpleasant, Voltron almost always great

Odd, because I would very much put it the other way around

(though I fully get that my views on Voltron are... somewhat marginal)

Yeah both of my group who rode on an outer seat were left with headaches. I was fine in the inside seat, must have been lucky with the trains we got.

It is odd how Voltron seems to be a complete roulette... even if the ride is providing smooth experiences and getting rave reviews from those that get them, the sheer inconsistency surely can't have been what Mack intended.

I also find it very odd given that Blue Fire is 16 years old and glass smooth. You'd think that 16 years of progress should have made Mack's thrill coasters smoother, not rougher. I know that Voltron is supposedly a bit more intense than Blue Fire, but my point still stands, I feel.

Have to factor in the element design as well. Beyond the Blue Fire roll at the end rest of it is fairly drawn out.

Will find out next week about Voltron. But I do wish people would stop taking influencer decrees as gospel.

I'm sorry but that's just a load of tosh!

I get that some people do find it worse than others, and a ride I had on a wing seat of row 3 (possibly train 7, can't remember) was not glass smooth like some rides have been. But Voltron is not unrideable!

Don't worry it's fine. Not as smooth as Blue Fire but it is perfectly tolerable.

The bigger issue is the length and intensity of the ride which makes it not particularly re-rideable imo. I always needed a good break from it before wanting to ride it again. But that will vary depending on your tolerance for intensity and nausea.

This recent nonsense from some enthusiasts about roughness is hilarious. There appears a trend towards saying that a coaster that has even the slightest issue is rough.

Do these people forget about really ROUGH coasters? You know, the ones that properly break your back, or bash your head against restraints?
