2025: General Discussion

Are there any spare buildings left in Towers Street? I tried to find out what the inaccessible to the public buildings are used for but couldn’t find out much other than “offices”

Left hand side you have the old bar and grill, not sure what it does now, right hand side there's more bits not in use, plus upstairs on that side is office space. Office space being easy to move as well, doesn't actually need to be in the park as such.

any ideas on how to book RCR? I know its a gimmic but id like one for opening weekend either Friday or Saturday evening - no dates on the fork and their phone number doesnt work...

Best bet is to give them a call on
01538 705019. Their online booking system is terrible and often gives zero availability. We’ve booked a few times over the phone with no problem even when the online booking system says it’s fully booked all year!

RCR hasn’t been open since fireworks I don’t think as it wasn’t open over winter this year. I imagine they haven’t even set the bookings up yet. But I would imagine if you could speak to F&B in the hotels they will know.

Thanks. I remember peeking behind the wall behind the coke refill area when left open and saw an empty restaurant area but didn’t recognise what it was and if I had found myself in the teachers lounge or something else

I looked on google street view and assumed the right hand side was offices on both levels. It’s a big space (and has a “reception” sign above it), with visitor parking and a road leading up to the employees entrance turning on Farley Lane - so whatever offices are there, they look important and substantial (didn’t Bianca say her office was on Towers Street somewhere?)

Towers Street Toby Carvery. It would be a unique offering on park. Fast service, decent value. Wouldn’t take much effort to convert the old Towers Street restaurant either.
I’m genuinely surprised at the constant suggestions for high-street retailers to appear in Towers.

Starting to think I’m the only person who actually enjoys escapism, and wants known brands like that to stay as far away from a theme park as possible..!

People wouldn't be begging for franchises to come in if Towers' own offerings were decent 😜

Totally get this perspective, but it seems very idealistic at this moment to anticipate the park putting in quality themed dining.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d absolutely love it, but the current setup (and I don’t put this solely at Aramark’s feet) doesn’t fill me with confidence.

So, failing that, I’d never turn down a big Tobes.

Food is very important and especially choice, competition and value as well as catering to dietary requirements.

I started this conversation off as an idea to redevelop towers street into a food hub. This would potentially mean demolishing some of the existing buildings and building something fit for purpose that obviously still looks appropriate for towers.

This part of the park is nothing but a thoroughfare currently, there is nothing there so other than starting your day and ending your day it serves no purpose.

If you opened Aramark food places along here it would not draw people back for lunch. Well known eateries that guests recognise would. Towers street also offers the ability to stay open post 5pm for those looking to eat before heading home, again not something you would do with an Aramark outlet, but you might head to one of these establishments on your journey home with towers being a long drive for most.

Ultimately it was just an idea and I can't see it happening. The agreement with Aramark seems a strange one as thorpe park seems to have been allowed to keep some of its franchises but none remain in Legoland, Chessington and Alton. I think the general consensus is that Thorpe Park has the best food offering out of all the merlin parks for this reason.

Really though, are Mitchells & Butler (for example) any different to Aramark? I'm not convinced. If Towers/Merlin wanted something of M&B quality, they could definitely work with Aramark to create it, but with a unique, suitably themed experience rather than the kinda stuff you get in everyday life.

I think it's the brand that makes a difference. You can create made up brands all you like but people like what they know. The burger kitchen is ultimately a pretend McDonald's / burger king and not nearly as popular as when these occupied the same building. The same with KFC in x-sector and pizza hut in Katanga canyon. Popular brands we see in shopping centres / high streets / airports etc we flock to as we know what we are getting and know the menu already.
Do we not have a Food and Beverage thread? Six pages is a little full on. Oh...
Sorry that's me finished on this topic now.
