2025: General Discussion

Oh wow so the rides will be operating again in just 12 days!? This closed season has flown by. What are the ops usually like on these pre season days? I assume less trains on rides
Usually fairly awful. The return guarantee usually is activated before the park has event opened.

They didn’t bother at all last year for that reason. But techies must be more confident this year. Or maybe the money works better for the park.

Forbidden Valley is definitely closed on the buy out days, guests for the blue light days have been informed that Galactica, Nemesis Reborn & Nemesis Sub-Terra won’t be open (the last I was aware anyway). Think quite a few people might’ve cottoned onto the Kids Pass day, the 2023 one was fairly busy

I would be happy if they just put up all new themed facades over the old fashioned “ CBeebies coloured” buildings on tower street. Just make it seem more magical, modern and consistent with their purple and gold branding and actual themed props on the buildings as there very little and very try little escapism to what could be such an epic entrance into the park! Even though the frogs are iconic they are extremely cheap looking and really old-school. They would look so much better replaced with a brass/metal look and maybe animated screens for eyes to have that iconic wow factor they keep trying to go for with them rather than keep tarting up your typical 90s playground style?

Even if all the buildings are empty but they made them look like fake shops and “busy and alive” rather than vinyls on windows and no life.

Alongside this a new updated entrance plaza and updated monorail entrances.
At the moment all just looks very old school now it’s starting to show his age and doesn’t really feel magical escape.

Also, does anyone know why that Coca-Cola static feature as you walk still present in Tower Street? it’s serves no purpose and always has looked awful and took away any form of escapism.

The Coca Cola branded freestyle stand is usually open at the start of the day, I’ve used it many times to activate my Nemesis Reborn freestyle cup

RCR is literally the exit to Galactica, but also it operates as a hotel restaurant, allowing people in via the Galactica gate making it very well located for its job,

my argument is more about how easy it is to see when in the park, imagine being a guest who has never been to alton towers, you wouldn't know behind the trees, and sky ride that building was a food place, even going to David Walliams or the dungeons it isn't that visible, but the woodcutters, RCR, etc are very visible and in high traffic areas. I think towers street could suffer from a similar fate as you do walk past on entrance, but you probably won't remember the resturant near the enterance after you have walked past multiple other places and you won't see towers street again until you are leaving (if at closing time it is when a lot of the restaurants close)

I could see it being good for Cbeebies as the enterance is very close and could act as a good place to have a break.

I'm late to this conversation but this is literally why we have park maps. Everything is clearly labeled on the maps, everybody can find the food places, no matter how hidden they are.

yes, they can find it but a lot of the general public won't check the map before deciding on which food to get, they may say "I saw the big hot dogs by wickerman" a lot of them will go of what looks nice, if you walk past doughnut division and see doughnuts you may want to eat some there, most of the public aren't planning out their day to eat at specific locations, it will mainly just be "that place looks nice to sit in"

Confirms the alteration of get set go layout and seems Garmendale have retained “service” support for one of their rides.

“The Garmendale team assisted the Towers technical crew in the removal and refitting of the rides power rail, matching the client specified and updated ride layout”

The article reads as though the update has already happened, which it hasn’t.

they also give a possible reason walliams world isn't open for the half term:

"Also, over the winter period our engineers supported the refurb and testing of Gangsta Granny: The Ride. A thorough refurbishment/winter works package ensures both ride systems are ready to entertain families and children of all ages from March 2025."

Whilst it is usually open over Christmas, it’s not been open for feb half term before has it?

They may have done the work on the power rail for the parts of the track that will be retained, so as the ride can run for some portion of the season. That way when they do shorten the layout it’ll be a relatively newer system overall

It's a press release from manufacturer. The exact dates of things being done mean nothing, it's the fact they're doing the work.
I wonder if this will take place beginning this week now pirate takeover has finished. I've no idea how long rerouting the ride would take but they won't want to have this taking place whilst the park is open considering the difficult access. The fact that the new footings seem to have been cleared as well suggests some urgency. There was workmen in cbeebies land last week whilst I was there but I've no idea what they were doing, they seem to be using the access next to the toilets by Justin's House.

It's very unlikely considering buyout days are next week.

I'd say it's going to be a closed season work.

I'd also imagine they may do a send off for Pat and have that as an event. Say "Goodbye to Postman Pat as he will be retiring from the Postal Service"

It looks as though Galactica might have had a jet wash. Saw a picture online (lost it so can't find it to link) but the track looks much cleaner.

Hope so as the recent video from outside the park gates of toxicator did show the track as grimey still
