This makes it towers’ tallest ride then? (Above ground level)A few things to note from the press release, it’s been confirmed it will have green lit fountains, it will allow more then 500 riders per hour, it will have a height restriction of 1.4m and it will be the worlds tallest topspin at 78ft tall (on top of its concrete platform).
Where's the press release? Has it been posted anywhere?
every time i see centrifugal force written anywhere i have flashbacks to my A level physics teacher ranting and raving about how most of the time we should be using centripetal force insteadHere you go:
Alton Towers Resort unveils name of new record-breaking attraction and thrilling first-of-its-kind details
Alton Towers Resort is challenging thrillseekers to submit to the spin as they reveal the first tantalising details of the unique new attraction that awaits them this spring.
- Toxicator subjects thrillseekers to heart-pounding centrifugal forces and extreme spin patterns
- The topspin ride is the highest of its kind - standing at 78ft
- Situated in The Forbidden Valley - it has been developed to experiment on the Nemesis creature
Named Toxicator, the new topspin ride can accommodate more than 500 riders per hour. They are seated back-to-back before being flipped round and held face down above a ‘bubbling pool of highly toxic alien acid’.
The first-of-its-kind in the UK, Toxicator sees thrillseekers subjected to heart-pounding centrifugal forces from intense spin patterns.
The only topspin ride in the world to be elevated above ground level means spectators can watch the entire experience from underneath.
Standing at a record-breaking 78ft high thanks to its setting on a 16ft elevated platform - it is situated in the Forbidden Valley next to the iconic Nemesis Reborn.
It is the latest technology from the shadowy organisation known as The Phalanx and is used by them to extract and separate toxic saliva from the Nemesis creature.
It applies an intense spinning, centrifugal force to the saliva which turns it into a chemical solution so powerful it will melt anything it touches.
Fans were recently treated to an exciting first tease of the new attraction in a TV advert unveiled this week.
Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “Alton Towers is renowned for consistently delivering new and reimagined thrills for our fans and as the UK’s only topspin ride, we’re excited to welcome Toxicator to the park.
“We can’t wait to challenge thrillseekers to submit to the spin. Located in the heart of Forbidden Valley, this is the latest chapter in the Nemesis story which has captivated generations of thrillseekers worldwide.
“We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.”
No, at the very least, both coasters in X Sector are taller. This makes it towers’ tallest ride then? (Above ground level)
There can't be a Topspin operational that reaches anywhere near that surely? With a ride cycle typically of 2-3 minutes, plus loading at at least 2 minutes, you're looking at surely 500 at an absolute maximum.500pph….so less than half of the ride’s actual theoretical capacity of 1140?
I guess. I’ve never actually seen one in person - just going off the manufacturer’s specThere can't be a Topspin operational that reaches anywhere near that surely? With a ride cycle typically of 2-3 minutes, plus loading at at least 2 minutes, you're looking at surely 500 at an absolute maximum.
That's a good point, even when the gondola is raised up fully it'll still be way below 78ftIs it just me, or does the height referenced in the press release make no sense? They've stated that it's "Standing at a record-breaking 78ft high thanks to its setting on a 16ft elevated platform". But it surely that can't be true unless I'm missing something incredibly obvious.
78ft is just shy of 24m and the ride is sat on a 16ft platform, so just short of 5m. But according to Huss, Suspended Top Spins are 13.2m tall, so a Suspended Top Spin sitting on a 5m plinth would be just over 18m, which is what they said in the planning docs.
Am I missing something?
Maybe they've done a Mandy and measured it from sea level? Those heights do seem way out.
I’d assume they have measured this - so how does the ride get to that height? Unless the platform moves somehow?

As I said above, even at that height it will be way below 78ft.Assume they’re referencing the height that the gondola will reach rather than the static height of the ride.
