Peel are still working with site developers and funders, as of July, according to the BBC. Personally, I'm not feeling too confident about it.

I'm not sure why Peel can't fund it themselves, they are absolutely loaded.

Shame. Seems to be an issue with Peel as many of their projects on the Wirral are in a similar trajectory.

They could afford to do it themselves but got to keep the profit line going up

Peel are cracking on with building new residential on the land beside the ship canal so they could definitely fund it themselves if wanted.

There’s also a new ice rink to be constructed opposite the ski slope.

I remain quietly confident the surf pool will happen just much later.

On a side note, I’ve just gotten back from Tokyo and a ride on Thunder Dolphin has made me decide that the Trafford Centre really needs an Intamin hyper coaster

Considering the Snowdonia one shut last year, I can’t see people queuing up to fund the thing.

Yes Peel have money, but they’re pretty risk averse - and the surf lagoon isn’t a guaranteed success.

It's certainly an odd place for it, there is another one planned for Southport. The Snowdonia one was also in a stupid location. You would think that they would be better placed nearer to where the surfers are, can't imagine there are many in Trafford

There are also "throughput" and "capacity" issues.
Long waits in cafes and so on for your thirty minute fix at peak times...and only half a dozen at a time...hard to make quick easy money.

Sale waterpark? The indoor waterpark make sense but the surf centre doesn't.

Taking a little more thorough a look at the planning documents, it appears as though one of the slides may be of the revolving “slide wheel” type, similar to that at Mt Olympus.
