[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

There were strong rumours suggesting this was cancelled.

It is worth remembering that at this point, they are just that, rumours.
The evidence in support of this actually happening, is in the form of the planning application, but the delay in any construction is slightly concerning.

I genuinely thought they'd have the Coaster Corner cleared out by now and ready for construction to start next year.

If it is cancelled, what else do they have up their ar- sleeve?

Sometimes less is more moth coasters in the dark, you either go for a full themed experience or a proper ride in the dark

I think coasters that exist solely in the darkness are somewhat underwhelming and actually detract from the various elements as you don't really know what you are experiencing. You need to have some kind of story element to them, like The Mummy at Universal or Space Mountain.

Thirteen does a good job too, the darkness is a moment following a unique element. Rattling around not knowing when you're going to bang your head or brace yourself isn't the best.

You have a point there!

Although the story on Space Mountain is pretty much "you are in space". Although I generally agree they need planned-out lighting or similar at least. The Black Hole was pretty good but was more of a coaster with disco lights compared to a coaster in space.

Don't want them to rush it and get it wrong.

Projects takes years to develop. Impatience gets you no where. In addition I do believe they had a few more priorities before Horizon
I will say that nemesis (the original one) had 9ts planning permission approved in 1992 - and it opened 2 years later. It has been 2 and a half years since Horizon was approved.

Maybe it was never the plan to do Horizon year after Nemesis Reborn remeber Nemesis Reborn was the cost of a new coaster

I think if we were to have an in the dark coaster that is a new version of Black Hole it would need enough lighting to brace yourself for drops and stuff like that, and much more themeing during the rude.

A large part of the fun of riding Space Mountain is barely being able to see whats coming up! Disney seem to have the balance right, just enough lighting to support the ride but dark enough to be really fun
