35% off hotel bookings

Had an email this morning as im sure many of you did saying the usual 35% off sale is now on for hotel bookings....

Anyone found any good bargains - i've just checked Fireworks weekend and its coming up at over £400 for two people! If thats with 35% off then its just crazy!

I booked my stays just after Xmas. I booked both fireworks and Scarefest with rooms averaging £135 per night. For the fireworks weekend our Sat night booking cost us £150, two nights at scarefest £255 looks like all the cheaper rooms allocated have all gone. I also got a great deal for the Enchanted village in June for £100.

Don't forget that the park is closed on the Friday the day before the fireworks which sucks!

The Splash landings hotel is the cheapest out of all three resorts.

Also make sure that you have selected Early booking offer and not Bed and Breakfast in the drop down tab.

When selecting your dates, make sure the park is opening on the days you want and I've also notice that the tree top adventure will only be opening weekends and when the kids are off school.

Cant see any "early booking offer" in the drop down tab......

edit : just spoke to them online, said they are still adjusting the prices and to try again later!

I've just tried the website to check for you and it looks like they have completely change the web pages and the way that you book since I last book. So yes it looks like they are updating the web page and I can't see any way of booking the Early booking offer anywhere on the booking process. The cheapest I can find for the fireworks weekend is approx £195 per night at Splash Landings. But you should get this around the £150 mark with the 35% discount.

Do let us know how you get on once they update their prices.

Hmm interesting..... I did live chat on their website, only now just had the chat transcript emailed to me and its come from the company "Holiday Extras" who some may know specialise in Airport hotels, parking etc. I wonder if Alton are contracting our their hotel booking system now, and the whole booking screens have also changed on their website....

Updated prices dont appear to be online yet either...

Thorpe and Chessington have used Holiday Extras as an agent for booking their hotels for sometime now. I assume AT has been moved over as well. The online booking systems certainly all look the same now.

I believe the hotel bookings team that was based in the call centre at Alton Towers have been made redundant and this will now be a centralised operation run by Holiday Extras.

As part of the change the option to pay a 50% deposit on booking and then the rest a month before your stay has been scrapped and credit card payments now carry a 2% surcharge.

However the old booking system is still live for now, with the reduced prices and no credit card fees

You cant pay a deposit anymore??? If thats the case then thats me not booking at stay this year out front!

Prices online are all over the place at the min, just phoned the reservations team and it was cheaper than booking online.
Like AT68 says I think the old booking team have gone and no longer on resort as the girl I was speaking too was in Folkestone :(

That's correct. Here is the extract from the T&Cs from the new booking system. The new call centre have confirmed it is the same policy when booking over the phone.

2. Payment: Full payment is required at the time of booking. All bookings made by credit cards are subject to a 2.0% handling fee, min. charge £1.50, max. charge £9.95 (non-refundable). This is not refundable and does not apply to debit cards. All monies you pay to one of our authorised travel agents for your holiday with us will be held by the agent on your behalf until we issue our confirmation invoice.

Prices have also gone up as Park Entry is now included in the price of the Hotel Booking, before it was an add on
All us numtpies that have a MAP loose out again.

I had to refresh the website a few times to get the early booking offer. Annoyingly when I called the call centre they quoted me the full price even when I asked for the offer! Glad I kept trying. Managed to get 4 nights midweek in summer holidays (Scot) for a good price - £481. That might have included credit card charges.

No deposit even by phone which was very disappointing. I couldn't afford park tickets as well atm so will be adding them on in a couple of months. It let me book hotel only online?

Pfffft well thats me out then of booking to stay there. Talk about again making it more unaffordable for families. The price to stay there is that of a small holiday, yet book a holiday and you get to pay a deposit and the rest before travel.

Bad, bad decision.

you want to check, alot of the breaks now include theme park entry too

I forgot to mention that is for 2 adults and 3 kids in EV. That's what it costs to stay anywhere really but I like the Towers experience - stayed in ATH before so looking forward to some privacy - even if it is only a curtain! Checked and the packages with tickets are the same as buying separately I think. Last time I called and added them on.

I agree annoying about the deposit thing, had to rejig my finances a bit.

Looks like the discounted prices are now showing on the webpage. Just select the B&B option in the first drop down tab and then select your dates and how many nights and people.

I pay using a debit card (not credit card) if you have one as there is no additional card fee with these. Do make sure that you unchecked any park tickets added to your total if you are a pass holder.

It's now showing for the firework weekend prices starting from £150 per night for 2 adults (or from £175 with 2 adults + 2 kids = that works out only £12.5 extra per child ) at Splash Landings and from £100 per night for 2 adults (or from £120 with 2 adults + 2 kids = £10 extra per child) midweek June for the Enchanted village basic lodge.

So they are - but I cant see where to say no park tickets - its not giving me the option..... I have chosen "Bed and Breakfast", for 4 adults, but then when it shows hotels, its splitting it into 2 rooms. When I choose a family room, it then says "includes park tickets".

Bit of a nightmare this new system!!

Taking a quick look at the site last night, it dose seem that you now need to add the park tickets as add on's. You will find that the basic rooms will house 2 adults and 2 children. If you have more than two children or two adults in your group, then you will have to book two rooms usually with interconnecting rooms or a larger family room.

This is what I manage to find on the booking site for a stay at Splash landings on the fireworks weekend for four adults, two adults would be half the price.

Not sure why its splitting 4 adults in to 2 rooms..... you can click the drop down at the top of the screen and choose a family room for 4 adults, but then this seems to add park tickets to the booking....
