It seems that theme park enthusiasts are not the only ones who have taken to the skies above The Towers in the interests of photography. ;)

There are some brilliant photos on Britain From Above of The Towers as they were in the 1920s, from the Aerofilms collection.

WOW! Dark Forest was once a.... FOREST! ;D

In all seriousness though, some fantastic images. Makes you appreciate how much the grounds around the towers have changed. You can also see the original access road from the disused gate house which you pass on your right hand side when you come over the bridge after Alton village. This road is now the path from Goal Striker that curves up through the grass infront of the Towers.

Everyone always mentions the view of the Towers from TowersStreet, however back in the day, the iconic view of the Towers was when arriving up this road which sweeps around the frontage of the Towers.

That road into the Towers only came when the railway opened, the origional route came up from the Quaxall gate in Denstone and upto where the hotels are then essentially down the woodland walk, the side of the gardens (down haunted hallow) into mutiny bay area, then across the faux bridge and white bridge to the towers.

It's interesting to see how the place has developed.
