Well, actually, no. The original editions of the book had one very important difference...TedTheHuman said:

However, very soon attitudes changed, and the thought of going to a far away island and capturing "pygmies" with dark skin to work as slaves in your factory became unacceptable. So Dahl re-wrote the book to change a few details. It's ok to have slaves if they are orange, it seems

Ah never knew that. How's about "Charlie and the chocolate factory is closer to the books then both the film adaptations" then? Sound a bit better? =P
