Being shot is the chance you take

The judge is right, you go breaking into a house where there's a strong chance someone has a shotgun, you can only really blame yourself if you get shot.

Most ridiculous defence I've ever heard. If you prepare yourself to break into somebody else's property and attempt to illegally steal their belongings then you should prepare yourself for the backlash.
