Never again, well not in November anyway. Being on the ride & drenched is one thing, but the wait, even in a short queue, each time, that gives you time to think about how wet you are & start shivering, is not good. Did it because we are sick weirdos, wanted to punish ourselves and beat our previous record of 18. Still did it, but stopping one short of the magical 20 did suck a bit. Lots of fun though. Very good.
I went on it the other day - just the once. I felt that because it was a dreich day I couldn't get any wetter. How wrong was I!? I done a fairly good job protecting myself at the water arch, but the waves coming into the boat just destroyed me. To do it once was questionable, to do it 19 times raises some serious questions regarding your mental capabilities!

I know some of Valhalla's effects can be temperamental, but I do have to compliment the team on it being more of a complete runthrough (not perfect, but better) compared to before the refurb. The ring-of-fire seems to be pretty reliable this year - that effect is just crazy and a bit terrifying. Whilst the finale fire effect still seem to be temperamental, you do seem to get at least something, and when you get them all its phenomenal .

Yes, ironically the least reliable for effect now seems to be the most reliable. The other fire on the run out and in the final scene regularly seem to be spotty.

I did notice last week that the ferocity of the ring/square of fire, whilst working, seemed to have been tamed slightly. Specifically the fire across the water is far less than earlier in the year.

I noticed that too. Whether it be a cost saving, or even a safety thing... I don't think it matters. That feeling when you are hurtling at speed to [what seems like] a wall of fire - and it just isn't going out is crazy. How they manage to keep it alight until the front of the boat hits it is phenomenal. Probably the most crazy, ridiculous and phenomenal ride effect in the world.

On a final note, since I know certain PB staff read this forum - Please can someone remove that can of spray paint or whatever it is from the final scene of River Caves, looks absolutely ridiculous and it's been there weeks.
Problem solved - the park have closed River Caves for the rest of the season (Please lord don't let them ruin it)

Also notable, Big One will miss the final weekend

Out of interest dippy, how often did the effects work?

Ring of fire worked throughout. That and water tunnel have been on I think every ride I’ve had this season. Hammers not on the whole time, again. I can’t remember if it was the room before the first or last big drop, but one or possibly both were in total darkness a few times towards the end.

I know this is the pleasure beach and they are well known for making strange decisions, but why would they shut the Big One on the last weekend of the season ?

Surely one week isn't going to make a great deal of difference in regards to the re-track work.

ok, so the real reason is almost certainly to save them a few quid, but why not just shut the whole park a week earlier ?

Presumably so they can get it open for whenever it is they want it to be open for next year. February half term still off the calendar does anyone know?

According to the website , 2nd of March is the opening day, and I will bet the Big One won't be open !

Because they can't be arsed for what is bound to be a very quiet week.
They can hide behind winter track repairs.
It gives the old gits something else to grumble about on the old gits last weekend rumble.

There will be a lot more to removing, fabricating and replacing the track than most are likely to think about. I'm sure it is more about when PB have been able to fit around everyone else regarding the road closures, haulage firms, the lifting machinery and crews etc. than BPB just trying to work out how to annoy us all even more this season (although, you would think it is their ultimate plan).

One thing I will give them credit for is the pact that they do make it known ahead of time.

Just seems an odd section to work on this off season, obviously they know more than us but from a riding perspective I'd have thought the helix towards the end would've been done next.

Also noticed over in America it's Premier Rides who've built the new track pieces for Loch Ness Monster.

I really do hope there is some new profiling work done on the track and not just a like for like replacement. If they do the crest of the hill, by smoothing it out and lowering it by about a meter-or-so - there could be some lovely airtime.

Away from the retrack, t would be nice to see the station get a little TLC. It is looking a bit grubby in places.

Looking forward to my last trip of the year at the weekend. Jolly boys sleepover with @rob666 @Dipper_Dave and @Rick

Couldn't tempt any of them with Blackpool ParkRun on Saturday morning though !! So it's just me daft enough to do that unless anyone wants to join me ?

We will be in crevettes at some point during the day (if it's open) so come and say hello. I believe it's @Dipper_Dave 's round
