Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2023 Discussion

Oh please I'm not getting into a debate comparing a amusement Park to the dairy business. Haha. Anyway I'm going to go and enjoy all our wonderful parks. Your all very infuriating going over the same old same debates, would be nice to read genuine, interesting posts once in a while. Genuine facts, memories, you know positive, happy posts. But for now enjoy constantly chasing your tails.

Talking of questionable decisions. Pleasure beach are now offering Friday + Saturday (2 day tickets) in September for £60.

At least they are trying something but who needs to go on two consecutive days when you can do everything in half a day in September?

Again this is pleasure beach assuming that people don't want to do anything else while they are in Blackpool, when actually they would probably prefer a shorter pleasure beach option.

Wouldn't a half day ticket make more sense ?

Looks like they are now allowing comments on social media again , so that's good.

Actually, using the milkman analogy if ok. The management never once moved the park to my front door, they made me get a train everytime I wanted to go. Ill never forgive them for that.

But if you had an identical park outside your front door, which one are you going to visit ?

The point was that people will always do what they think is best for them and what they perceive is worth it. So in the case of milk, the milkman is essentially a thing of the past.

Let's hope pleasure beach don't go the same way.

Only 3 times a year in crevettes, come on man, make the effort!!

The jolly boys will be there on the 12th and 13th of November in our annual sleep over . @Dipper_Dave 's round..... actually it could be mine !!!

I'm sorry I don't go every week. Haydock is to much of a draw to leave too often.
I'm sure one thing we can all agree on, we want all our parks around for our kids and grandkids to enjoy at least a couple of rides we went on. Enjoy your jolly boys outing
 
Other parks and attractions in England have been pulling in the crowds, so the argument that ‘the English’ are all jetting off abroad falls flat right there. In a time when money is getting tighter for a lot of people, they are having to make a choice about which attractions they spend their money on, if BPB doesn’t offer good value for money then they will choose to visit somewhere else that does offer value for money instead, as they can’t afford to do it all.

Criticising parks doesn’t mean people want them shut down and it doesn’t mean people don’t enjoy their visits either. People can see the downward trajectory BPB are heading for and want it to stop, the park has potential it’s not meeting and keep making bizarre decisions that are driving guests away. If the Pleasure Beach does ever close down, it won’t be the fault of the British public.
 
I have to concur, any argument that other people being/doing it wrong and needing to change their habits for your agenda is always going to be a looser. You see it a lot in idealist politics.

I was at the airshow weekend. It was rediculously busy. I also went to the beach. Big one was basically walk on. This was the Friday, so no conflict with the show itself.

It's any businessess responsibility to drive custom. Should we support them if we are fans? Sure. But it isn't us that are going to save the beach. It's the GP and they owe it nothing.

The circle continues, haha. I'm deffo off after this. If it does it is the people's fault, because the people, as in the general population turned their backs on it, not the other way round. People stopped going, people stopped spending money. Literally why would that be any park's fault?

My mum and dad recently looked after my two nephews for the week. They looked at Pleasure Beach but decided against it as it was too expensive.

My mum is not into coasters and one of the nephews not into anything too intense, but otherwise a good day with plenty of secondary spending could have ensued. However they were priced out of the market by the £150 price tag just to get through the gate.

But WHY did people stop going and WHY did they stop spending money there? Not because people can’t be bothered, not because they’re all going abroad, not because of some vendetta against the park and it’s heritage. It’s because the product is shoddy and other attractions offer better value. That’s not the general publics fault, that’s Pleasure Beach’s for not offering a worthwhile day out compared to competition. It can be easily fixed but they’re choosing not to.

I went to Thorpe Park at the weekend and it was reasonably busy, I went to the Dragon Slayer event at Warwick Castle the other week and there were only a few empty seats and queues for all the food vans. People will spend their money on what they feel is worth it and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s up to BPB to offer value for money and market themselves well, no one is obliged to spend their hard earned money there.

Riiight. Tell me again why I should spend more money to go to BPB for an interior product?

Since my last visit, I have done 83 fair and theme park visits elsewhere, across 5 countries with the majority in the UK and I feel no desperate desire to go back as the product isn't drawing me back in.
 
Ok, I decided to get Planet Coaster's opinion on this. (Trying to be original... I don't think anyone has been sad enough to try this experiment on these forums before?).

I ran my Blackpool style amusement park for 3 years first with free admission, but high ride price, rerun it with Expensive admission and free rides, then quite expensive admission and fairly cheap rides and finally expensive admission and expensive rides.

I made far more money with both Expensive admission and expensive rides together.

Hope Mandy isn't reading.

What's that? Planet Coaster isn't an accurate real world financial modelling simulation? Good Golly!

Thought it was interesting though.
 
Turned out to be so easy. Just put the figures into Planet Coaster... Solved.

Now it's time to resolve the merging of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics in Microsoft Paint.

Seriously though... I don't know what's for the best. Modest gate price then modest PPR is quite appealing to me, but not for everyone.

And I'm a Yorkshire man so my definition of modest may be lower than most...
