I thought the seatbelts and Speedy Pass had stunted Icon’s throughput by a fair bit? Or was that just initial teething problems?

Even before that, though, it was registering at around 850pph on my 2019 visit, from memory, and that’s lower than a fair few Merlin coasters.

Anyone worrying about the throughput, the operations on ICON are usually very good and it probably gets through queues quicker than any other big coaster in the UK, maybe second only to Nemesis.
I mean that just is not true, certainly wasn't the case on Saturday. They did add a third train to Icon on Saturday at around 5pm. We did work out the throughput when we did it earlier in the day when on two trains, taking in to account the loss of seats for Enso. I can't remember what it was, but it was not overly impressive.

Why on earth have they added seat belts to it though!? What a colossal waste of time.

I was talking mainly comparing to crowd levels. It doesn't get quite the same level of crowds as Alton Towers or Thorpe. On 3 trains from the back of a completely full queue line doesn't take long to get through compared to rides at other parks. You aren't going to get 2 or 3 hour queues on ICON even with Enso on all 3 trains.

Think it's something to do with the fact that the restraints only had double redundancy or something. Other Mack launch coasters have been retrofitted with seatbelts too.

The list of Mack's without them is far longer than the list of Mack's with them. They are completely unnecessary.

The actual queue line length for Icon is not that long. It would probably take 15-20 minutes for Nemesis to get through a queue of the same length.

I'm sure when Alton Towers did their bricks they cocked it up too. "Make you're mark on the park", if I recall

I sometimes get the feeling that all Alton Towers marketing copy is produced by one short-tempered dude with terrible grammar who everyone is too afraid of to correct.

On another topic, I personally don't see how Valhalla at this point could have improved enough to make the three year wait worth it.

I have to be honest.

That station and blocked up turntable section look utterly horrendous. They have taken one of the best themed attractions in the world and made it look like a temporary scare maze.
It's currently a construction site tbf.

Mainly posting in the hope I tip the thread over to 100 pages (edit: that didn’t work):

Warning: Dead rodent alert @shakey

3 years to ‘reimagine’ a ride, and launching a range of merch for it, whilst it’s still shut, is BPB all over. We need it back to breathe some life into north park, which is dying on its arse with no Valhalla, Wild Mouse still NSANO, and the price of drinks at FY4 (just for you that one @rob666)
