Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

So from the promo images looks like the original style seating rather than the rotating seats, which is a shame. Would have certainly fit the theme as astronauts launch upwards while on their backs facing upwards. Or are they going to have one side of it as the rotating seats as an upcharge?
Seems like a missed opportunity to not convert it to that seat style. Will still be fun to get it back to full power, look at that airtime it had when it first opened.

ice blast... I mean play station, no launch pad now with enso

Honestly, the French have the best launch site, it's the closest one to the equator. But let's not get too off topic when we have a dedicated space thread. ;)

I think it's good that they are actually refurbishing Ice Blast (or as you lot call it Launch Pad) instead of removing. Someone tell Alton that flat ride refurbishment IS in fact, an option

Aren't towers refurbishing Ripsaw for next season though ? - Sort of.

I like the promo video but we seem to be getting into a routine of refurbishing / re-imagining / re-painting rides after closing them for a year (or more) and then acting like its something new. Towers and Pleasure beach are both on that bandwagon at the moment.

I can't see a Gyro swing coming next year (and maybe not at all) but hopefully we can get excited about things happening on the Grand Prix site for what could be a 2026 opening (if we are lucky)

also haven't seen this posted here, I have no words, AI astronaut then badly done doors opening to the ride, I feel it could have been done much better with much less (something like a title screen saying coming in 2025, then a video of the tower, and then fade to the logo):

That is atrocious -- as much as I hate AI regardless, that doesn't even look like it was created with a recent AI model

Probably the most random thought but with Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl coming out this year and the Grand Prix being nearby - could the rumoured Family Coaster in that area potentially be themed to the new addition to the Wallace and Gromit films?

That could work on how they could incorporate Vengeance Most Fowl into Pleasure Beach without touching the Thrill O Matic. 🤔

Well that's the best joke all year lad. Pass me the butter Gromit. In all seriousness, Gangster Granny does a better job - re-theming an old ride doesn't make it a good ride.

BPB isn't geared to being a "theme park" - would be a waste and eg Paultons would be a far better fit,

I'm not sure why Paulton's would be considered a better fit for a theoretical Wallace & Grommit: Vengence Most Fowl coaster when Pleasure Beach already has an attraction themed to Wallace & Grommit. I'm not actually expecting BPB to theme any theoretical coaster to this film but I don't see the logic in saying Paultons would be a better fit when there is no evidence that they are looking to theme any attractions to specific individual licences. They have Peppa Pig World and that's it, nothing else is licenced or sponsored I don't think. Besides, who knows what licensing deals would be in place anyway regarding Pleasure Beach and whatever the agreement was for Thrill-o-matic and who holds the rights for that franchise.

Honestly, if any park is to do another Wallace and Gromit themed attraction, it's going to be Pleasure Beach as the park is in Lancashire and I believe the films are set in Lancashire so it's a natural fit.

I don't think it'd feel right to have a Wallace and Gromit ride at a park down south to be honest.

Last month, there was pictures of the Grand Prix demolition which a family coaster was mentioned to come. I'll quote the post below.

So demolition of Grand April is really speeding along with most of the helix removed.
Im told that a family coaster will replace it in 2026. I believe the person knew the manufacturer but wasn't giving anything away lol

I'm probably clutching on straws or adding 2 and 2 to make 5 however a family rollercoaster like a Mack Powered or a Zierer Force on the Grand Prix site themed to Wallace and Gromit's new film could be possible as it does seem very plausible with Thrill O Matic being close by to the site and it'd be a fantastic IP to theme a family coaster to (as it is a timeless multi generational family IP even more so than Nickelodeon).

It's possible it's something completely different or a rollercoaster themed to something different however a W&G coaster does sound fun in my view.

Cheapest thing to do is simply add a new scene to Thrill O Matic based on the new film in which given some of the black spaces in there does make this a quick fix to do with perhaps several little tweaks to the scenes maybe?
