Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

Well this will be good to see.

So I guess we can't expect the gyroswing for 2025
Honestly, I'd be thinking that's potentially 2026 if it's not been called off or that was the back up plan for Ice Blast it they couldn't get it back up and running again.

My thoughts is that the Grand Prix will be home to a family/family thrill coaster and the Bowladrome site would be home to the speculated Gyro Swing with both potentially opening before or for 2026. 🤔

So what are we up to now? Alton Towers are opening a top spin. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is opening a re-themed version of Playstation the Ride. Flamingoland's opening an updated version of The Lost River. And Paulton's Park is opening a shooting cinema ride? Have I missed anything?

I actually think the Lost River project may be the one that excites me the most at the moment.

2025 seems like it will be a bit of a fallow year for brand new rides in the UK. Is there anything else confirmed apart from the Top Spin at AT, Ghostly Manor at Paulton's, and Magic Mouse XXL at Fantasy Island? That's not the best but hopefully 2026 will be an extremely interesting year.

An Ice Blast retheme (or as you call it, Launch Pad) feels like an absolute bare minimum investment. Granted, it appears the guts of the ride are going to be new given how chopped up the original parts were, but how much can you possibly theme a power tower?

I’m glad it’s staying though. Throughput aside, I actually quite enjoy it.

Interesting to see that the Facebook posts lists the height as 210ft, but Wikipedia notes that Ice Blast is a 180ft model.

Creative marketing?

I don't think they would have rushed the grand prix helix scrapping if there were no plans for the area.
Possibly.
Having plans is great but you actually have to build something. A Gyro Swing would have provided a good reason to visit next season while the Grand Prix site plans were finalised. Now we have yet another season with nothing remotely new and park prices rise.

What's getting punters through the gates next year? It's certainly not going to be Lauch Pad

I'm confused by this. The park reopened Valhalla in 2023 after it had sat SBNO for a few years. They spent money doing up the ride, giving it a refurbishment and a bit of a cosmetic makeover, and they complimented the area with Loki's Bar next to it which has wooden Nordic decor. So you'd think that the logical thing to do would be to give the ride in front of them that is being refurbished and relaunched a similar aesthetic or theme. Maybe give it some runic symbols, paint it brown, theme it to Thor's hammer or the flight of a hawk from Norse mythology, something like that right so it all ties together visually and thematically? No, Pleasure Beach decide to theme it to a fricking space rocket instead. I don't get it. I mean I know it's not a theme park, it's an amusement park that only lightly uses themes, but that seems like a bit of a bizarre choice. Almost as if they didn't really want to theme it and just went with some stock generic look for it rather than deciding to do anything creative.

We can have a pretty good guess based on the last seven seasons of nothing. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I won't be.
I wish I had your confidence with anything to do with the future of the Beach.
Something is happening, I don't know what.
There is no obvious reason for felling the grand prix so quickly, it just wouldn't be done so rapidly without reason...dead money to do it for nothing, at the skint end of the season.

Think you're forgetting that they killed the Mouse and there is still nothing in it's place 😉
