Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Confirmation that Pleasure Beach Resort’s newly re-imagined ride, Launch Pad, will open in Spring

An announcement that new scenes will be added to Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic ride, from the new BAFTA award-winning film, Vengeance Most Fowl

A further announcement that the beloved River Caves ride will become the next attraction at Pleasure Beach to receive a re-imagining

I think I’m right to say that these other updates aren’t really news.

Bravo to the park for keeping the Gyro Swing rumour quelled as much as possible given the publicly listed charge though.

I think it's fair to say that it's going to be the stand out flat ride in the country by far. And a sensible investment by PB? Well I be damned. 😂

No plans to visit in 2025 but will make the very short trip for 2026 for sure to ride this beaut.

The ride is a giant spinning pendulum that swings 120 degrees and reaches 138 feet at its highest point.

Is this above ground or sea level?

I can't say I'm remotely excited personally, as I hate spin & spew rides, but I guess it will be good for the park, and it's good to see them actually adding a ride, enough have been taken away in recent years without replacement. I'm sure those with an iron stomach will enjoy this ride, but I would be blowing chunks for a week if I rode this. What area will this cover when in full flow? I'm not sure I'd want to be stood under it in case anyone loses their lunch 🤢🤮

I'm pleased about this. It's a really good film.

Brilliant investment. I think the best part is the high capacity of 40 riders per cycle, and (according to Loke's stats) 900 riders per hour. It should add a much-needed queue shifter to the park, although I'm sure PB will find a way to lower that capacity somehow  A very sensible addition to the park, IMO.

I get the distinct impression that Mandy’s bestie, Andreas, may have had a hand in influencing this decision.

It’s one of the park’s single biggest attraction investments, and so for a company that’s not swimming in cash, it’s a bold and commendable decision.

Do all Intamin Gyro Swing 40’s have the same specs. The spec sheet on the Intamin website says 42m / 138ft.

However, YEG suggest in their latest video it’s going to be bigger than Loke.

Loke is 138ft, and PB's press release states that theirs will also be 138ft, so it appears yes. YEG are probably mis-led somehow.

Loki and Swingi are excellent. Especially Swingi - the cycle is fantastic and interactions with the pathways and views over Helsinki. Proposed location I think lends itself to that plus you'll see the ride from the promenade as well.

Just realised, 138ft will (most likely) be the height of the max swing. According to Liseberg's website Loke's max swing height is 137ft. Classic PB 😂 🤦‍♂️

If they were going for some nonsense height record why not get the Zamperla?
