Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

The animatronic bears outside Avalanche have been removed.

This is potentially massive news, so we should be clear why you believe they’ve been removed.

The shutters were closed on their balcony all weekend and their music was still playing; that’s not unusual for the opening weekends of the season and you’ll often see the shutters come up in weeks ahead.

Are those delightful, musically gifted, fluffballs actually removed or are you just referencing that the shutter was down?

They have been spotted in a backstage area. Of course, there's two possibilities here, they could be getting repaired/cleaned up or perhaps they'll be in the shop for several million quid shortly, after the Grand Prix rocks, you never know..!

Those 'crowd' figures from GP's station are still for sale if anyone's interested

Like I said, the changes to NI thresholds have a huge impact. Poor Oakwood. Can Mandy buy Megafobia and save it haha.

Oakwood has been dying for years, they are using the NI increase as an excuse. The company have other properties and want to use the closure to get voters to pressure the government.

If it had been running fine and closed suddenly I may have sympathy for the NI argument but it’s been badly managed and destroyed by its owners, not NI.

Companies lie, that shouldn’t be news to you.

You’re right, it was definitely played, if I remember correctly in several places across the park. It was accompanied by a male voice saying, “hurry, hurry, hurry, the greatest show on Earth is about to begin”.

I really can’t place where exactly it came from though. Was it from the arcades?

Having the music back in the day, it was absolutely flogged to death in every arcade and "space themed" attraction for about two decades.
Oxygene part 4, 1977, I would have guessed a number one hit, but only number four.
Not quite Tubular Bells, but over repeated everywhere at the time, and for decades after.
May well have been used in the hologram display (remember them!) that ran behind the overpass food shops, towards the Camera Obscura and space tower, close to the Black Hole.

The whole album was given away with a sunday paper a few years ago, so I have a fresh copy.

I'm showing my age again aren't I.

Not sure if this is what you were thinking of, but various models of Elaut claw machines play a short clip of Oxygene 4. I think it's built in
It played on the machine that was located outside the entrance to streak until quite recently i think. Not sure if its still there now.
