Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

After asking in this thread a couple of weeks back (thank you all for your advice!), I’m now officially headed back to Blackpool for the first time in 6 years in 2025! I’ve booked a 2 night stay in Blackpool and train tickets all the way up there with the intention of having a lovely midweek visit on Wednesday 30th April! It’ll be interesting to start my 2025 in Blackpool, for sure!

The question I’m now pondering is; am I masochistic enough to do Valhalla in April? Part of me feels like I should try it seeing as it’s been refurbished since my last visit… but the other part of me really doesn’t want to get that wet in April! The only time I did it before, it was August and it was nearly 30 degrees, and I still got off feeling like I’d contracted hypothermia…

Nevertheless, it’s nice to have a trip planned, not least after my other main non-Merlin UK trip idea for the year was stymied earlier this week by Oakwood closing down…

I hope you enjoy it.

In regards to Valhalla and in the nicest way possible, all I say to that is to grow a pair and man up. It only water, it doesn't kill. Plus you can take a change of clothes.

The ride is excellent, you would be silly to miss it. End of April though the weather should be warm.

When it all works its a fantastic ride when it all works, I rode it today and got a rare ride of ALL effects working including ALL the Fire. I think thats only the 3rd time I've ever ridden it and everything was working, its just brillient when it does that. I usually ride it 2/3 times a visit. You should definatly do it when you visit. Just be prepared, have a poncho and a change of shoes/crocs for the ride, if your protected and have different shoes its totally worth it. I was pretty much dry afterwards today as I was prepared

I have ridden Valhalla before, so it’s not like I’ve never done it, and I didn’t particularly rate it the first time (largely due to the sheer wetness of it being a bit much for my personal liking). But I’m wondering; is that refurbishment, as well as 6 years having passed since my first ride, enough reason to give it another go?

I’ve got a month and a half to ponder it, anyway…

The only way to satisfy your curiosity is to ride it again. Don’t overthink it, just follow this Q&A:

Do you mind getting very wet?

If the answer is ‘No’, ride it

If the answer is ‘Yes’, don’t

Simples

Really random one, I seem to have this memory of the following tune being played somewhere within pleasurebeach at some point - no idea what. Would've been 2000-2008 some point perhaps. In a more amusement style version though. Might be a false memory or from an amusements arcade.

Playing today, just for you, across from the ghost train, presumably by the grabber machines.
Gave me a nice double take.

Managed two woodies and a nice pint in Crevettesm this morning, but my god, the walk down the ramp back to the entrance...big black wooden wall on one side, derelict river caves on the other, with the classic view of the closed national and ice blast.
ghost town ain't in it.

With valhalla, steeplechase and the train opening late as well, ride selection was not exactly great early on.

Lovely to be back though...sunny as well.
