Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

I only post the most exciting park updates, so today's is no exception...

String line has appeared on the Grand Prix site, it appears to consist of a pathway to the fountain, a circle around the fountain itself, and a small path to where Icon's speedy queue lives. There's also a branch off it to the learning garden.

Bringing the park back to theme park!

Congratulations to the marketing team for this one

Facebook advert which somehow manages to avoid mentioning where you're buying tickets for, with a ridiculously zoomed in picture of Launch Pad, with the 99 outside the viewable area, and the small detail of it actually being an amusement park forgotten.

Looks like one of those posters the local travelling circus ties to lampposts

Maybe its intentionally generic, people are probably less likely to click if they know the offer is for Pleasure Beach 😂

Her ladyship has already spoken about it, saying she hopes to work in closer cooperation with the council.
She also said that "the resort" was the nations most popular destination for tourism...I thought that was London, by a million miles.
Edit...Sandcastle and "Showtime"(looks crap, anyone been?) are to be managed by the new company as well.

Can't blame the council for Sandcastle as they only really took full control last year, they have been out recently giving the exterior a much needed lock of paint.
I kind of agree with Showtime, it is underwhelming but as a local I get free access so can't complain too much

I assume we’re referring to Showtown, in which case it’s a reasonably good museum. There are some fascinating bits and pieces in there, including some great old posters and advertising, some Sooty stuff and even a letter from Walt Disney talking about the Illuminations.

Pay once to get it and you can return for free al year, which is a decent value I think.

Sorry, trust me with a Gazette quote.
You are the first I have heard say the "thing" is reasonably good...most other reports have not been that positive.
Free for locals, fifteen quid if not, my friends young family lasted less than an hour, with only one other group in there in that time, and told me not to bother, they will not be returning with their repeat ticket.

I think you probably need to hold an interest in the town to find some of the exhibitions of interest. I can understand if you didn’t then you could fly through fairly quickly.

Items like that Walt letter and some of the old advertising posters were what made it for me.

I am waiting for these chairs to be used as a 'perk' for the scandelous £25 non rider ticket.

"More seating options than ever! Brand new for 2025, undercover seating! All included in your £25, non rider admission fee. BOOK TODAY!"

I mean, they can't even put some seating in there properly, it is just 4 haphazardly placed tables, in what is a relatively huge area, with an extremely filthy looking floor. I suspect the budget for more tables was vetoed and re directed for more water features and or dry ice machines for hot ice.

You couldnt make it up, it almost looks like something out of Phoniex Nights. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a giant phallus shaped bouncy castle in there next, it would compliment the look they are clearly going for.

The parks transformation is going well
When I last looked, only half the thrill rides on the park were open, only one of the three adult woodies... Launch pad, Big One, Steeplechase and Valhalla were also closed.
North park still looks very abandoned when you arrive at the park...with National, Mouse site, Bowladrome and River Caves closed when you enter, and the South of the park has a recently purchased flat ride closed, Skyforce, as it wasn't very popular...allegedly.

All coasters running single trains apart from Icon...Avalanche on one all season means half an hours queue, even on quieter days.

The missing monorail and grand prix on the overpass also look rather bleak, with no progress on development of the gardens underneath, despite being advertised on the entry pass...Bradleys Garden, or thirty tons of mud...you decide.

Then there are the dodgems, that have not been announced closed, so are just invisible.

The parks admission policy is appalling, prices of admission change almost daily, and the non rider policy has been a mess for the last few years.
Twenty five quid to walk around...really good value for a fiver less than all the rides, bound to be a failure.
The nice lady in the local petrol station asked me yesterday about the new entry pass...I explained...her response...Twenty Five Quid? Not A Chance!...End of conversation.

Not much sign of progress, just a lot of closed rides and poor ops in my elderly, jaded eyes.

The park is scraping along the floor, slowly, on its arse...leaving a wide skidmark along the south promenade.
