If the Wow Weekends map is to believed the new name for the old Coasters restaurant by Icon is going to be... Coasters. And they also look to be selling a very similar range of food to last year.

Also, the reference to a new Burger King opening in the Casino has now disappeared.

Was that what that reference was? I thought the artist had just assumed BK was in that building because of the massive BK sign next to it?

Did the old space invader building take up the whole building? I mean the pizza restaurant or was it on the first floor?

Just thinking about the space in there and the possibilities for future development.

The ride itself was one level up so there’s still a fair bit of unused space above BPK where it used to be.
Quite. BPK was previously the King Cotton pub and a large toilet block. The original Nick Land plans called for a phase 2 in 2012 containing a 4D cinema in the unused space (hence the grand entrance, next to the stage) but it never happened. Not yet, anyway.

A Zamperla Flying Tigers ride was also in the original plans, not sure if that was delayed until the following year or scrapped altogether. It just disappeared from the plans between the announcement and construction.

There is a nice sized space about the BPK. It's not tall, but a small coaster or even better a dark ride would work in there.

Anyone who remembers the Alton 4 man Bob or Flying Trapeze from Flamingoland will know how tiny the Space Invader was, as these were the same model.

Here's a shot of Alton's Four Man Bob (also operated at Flamingo Land & Pleasure Island) when it was at Grove Land (just down the road from Oakwood), before it went to Loudoun.

I just realised Pasaje Del Terror turns twenty this year! Is it any good these days? Are they doing anything to celebrate?

It's an attraction with an interesting history. Apparently it took the owners several years to convince Geoffrey that it would be viable, suitable and popular for the park, and of course, it was an instant hit. I remember when it opened, just walking past that big (actually quite beautiful) sign freaked me out, not to mention how LOUD they used to blare the sounds of people apparently losing their minds with fear on those TV screens. Apparently it was very intense when it opened, and a young teen, I declined a trip down the stairs, which is probably for the best. I remember a lad in our year claimed to have been in, though, and I actually couldn't believe the idea of the chainsaw ending at the time. Ironically, it's now absolutely soft compared to some of the extreme haunts elsewhere, although I understand that it opened with a full crew of veteran Spanish actors back then.

I think that if BPB were to gain a new entrance plaza leading out onto where the Mouse stood until recently, PDT would be a casualty, despite it's consistent popularity over two decades. I'm not sure if it totally matches Amanda's more family-friendly vision for the park these days anyway.

@Plastic Person Pasaje and the Big One were both rites of passage (rites of Pasaje?) for lots of young people living close by or visiting Blackpool annually.

It baffles me that it continues to be popular with Halloween now being such an event (perhaps that's part of the appeal?). I suspect it did a lot better with higher footfall, I always wonder how Kentucky Derby continues season after season.

I've not been through it for a good 15+ years or so. I forget how much it was as I walked past at the weekend, I think £8 or so and there were at least 12 punters in the queue.

RE Speedy Pass, yesterday they weren't selling much as the park was quite quiet. I queued from just at the top of the ramp inside the building for Nickelodeon Streak and it took between 10 and 15 minutes to get on, whereas in August last year queueing from the exact same point took 70 minutes. That's what Speedy Pass does.

The number of people using speedy pass at BPB isis relatively low, my main issue is that the way it's been bodged means that dispatch times are far slower than they would be without speedy pass, so it affects queues far more than it would normally. Streak is probably the worst for this as it doesn't have loading gates.

On busy days, it can also badly effect Big One. There were a few occasions last season where the Speedy Pass queue pretty much filled or spilled outside the exit ramp of the station. One of the other issues is allowing Speedy Pass users to nab the front seat on rides like the Big One - the way it is implemented on that ride is terrible and serves to cheese so many people off as it’s so obvious that the Speedy Pass users are ‘stealing’ your seat. Compare that to how it’s implemented on the likes of Big Dipper with the queue merge, and it’s clearly the worst of two evils.

Speedy pass can do one. Queues for front row big one. Then had to wait ... twice !
That can’t be right. :(

I’ll be investing in speedy pass if I go again.

Can’t beat them join them :D

It's unfortunate that now that Wild Mouse is gone, there is no rollercoaster I truly enjoy at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Until Icon opens, no doubt.

So - I will wait till it does.
