Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I wonder if they'll have done any restoration/effect fixing in Valhalla over the winter?

Personally I still maintain the view that it'd be better for the park to leave it closed over WOW Weekends, use the time (and saved running costs) to give it the scenic restoration it desperately needs and then open it in time for Easter in top form, rather than rush to reopen it in the middle of February and have it running in a mediocre state throughout the year.
I think that's a good idea. Only the maniacs ride Vallhalla in Feb and March anyway so leaving it closed until the main season seems sensible.

It normally gets a bit of love in Spring time rather than during closed season. That’s if it does get any general renovation.

I don’t think the powers that be give a monkeys about how many effects are / aren’t working on Valhalla on a given day. In fact I think they deliberately leave them off to wind up Jamie & Shakey. I also think that anyone wanting to ride it this time of year is a certifiable nutcase

I'd be far more concerned about two headline coasters being down along with any random brake downs or in the Avalanches case roll backs on the day, rather than the effects in Valhalla.

I've just about given up on Valhalla now, an absolute disaster compared to when it opened.
On every ride last year, more than half the effects either failed or went off half hearted.
I get more fun hosing down my three legged dog in the yard...and it is not as wet.
Take the ride out of that big shed, and put the Fun House back in.

Are we expecting ‘two headline coasters to be down’ or do you mean this has been the case in a recent year?

First day of the season is usually quite busy.
The first mild, dry weekend of the year is often very busy in Blackpool generally.
This weekend on the Beach might be a bit crowded.
I'm glad I'm going for the beer and company as much as the coasters.
