The shields were on sale last weekend for £50!

They even had an old breaking stick thing from one of the wooden coasters, that was £150! Someone bought that as well.

The new bits of merch they had on sale (and what they told us during the talk) looked really good as well.

Tempted by the 3D printed trains but for £80 I'll be waiting until the range is much bigger so I can choose my favourite.

A breaking stick sold for £150, what's wrong with these people.

See Merlin, look what you are missing out, as in revenue at your parks during the half term. All Towers can manage for half term is Pirates and Princess Takeover
Alton Towers won't open.

The risk of poor weather isn't one worth taking for Feb Half Term. One year they lost truck loads of money due to bad weather. Not to mention it causes issues getting the park ready for main season.

Imagine if this week had been cold and damp...

I’d be surprised, unless huge numbers are booked. Thick fog at the moment

I think thick is stretching it a bit!!

We're in a BnB at the moment

I was surprised at how busy Blackpool was in general yesterday...we didn't do the on but the trams were packed and the amount of people on the front was like a summers day

I said the same when I got home about the parking on South Shore ... it was as busy as an August weekend! Would have been a nice little bonus day for the shops and cafes who were open.

It's good to see people (and money! ) coming into the town outside of the traditional Easter to November season

It was at the time my brother texted me at 730 to say “Drive carefully, thick fog.” Nice now !

Double post avoiding edit :
Great day at BPB today. Big One on two full trains, we queued to level with Pepsi cans on ramp and were on the ride in what seemed like no time. Usual great dispatch on Icon. One set of trains on Nash but as good a dispatch as possible on one set. Two train Dipper queue moving nicely. New railings to separate front row queue on Icon though no sign telling you that clearly. New entry point on River Caves to allow speedy pass to enter. Got on all we wanted to & into Pizza Hut before the rush. Didn’t realise they did the buffet until 5 on Sundays. Nom nom!

Brake lever for Blue Flyer only(!) £175, picked up a small Steeplechase wheel and drooled over the £80 Dipper car models. Staff friendly & helpful. Well done BPB on a well run park today.

Strange how icon now seems super popular...of all the times I went last year I never saw the queue as big as today

Not sure the despatches were as fast as last year though so maybe that played a part

Great to see what seems to be a notable improvement on last weekend; well done BPB! Certainly doesn't surprise me, though; BPB seemed to have some of the most efficient operations I've ever seen when I visited in August 2018!

You should have seen it in the 80s/90s, pretty much every coaster ran a train more than it does now, when it was pay per ride high throughput meant more money spent on tickets. PMBO, Nash, Dipper, Streak, Avalanche and Steeplechase all now run fewer trains/cars than they were designed to.

Operations weren't too bad today, though the park wasn't really that busy so queues were never a major issue. I approve of the new batching area after the turnstile on River Caves as it could be used to speed up loading if used effectively. My main issues with operations at BPB remain Nash for obvious reasons and speedy pass on PMBO - you can always tell when they're letting on speedy pass holders as the 2nd train will be sat in the brakes before they dispatch, which when you remember there used to be a 3rd train running is a pretty poor indication of how long its taking them to load.

Can the big one run on 3 trains in technical terms and they don’t for safety or has it been changed so they physically can’t

they've definitely tested the ride before park opening on three trains in recent years. The main issue would be sending trains out the station fast enough and with the faff of people getting on/off the trains which somehow seems to have increased, plus now speedy pass.

regarding speedy pass they need to somehow have the users merge into the main queue at some point instead of entering via the exit ramp. That would help the boarding process no end.

Removal of seatbelts and a no bag rule would surely speed up the process baffles me why people insist on carrying a big bag full of crap round a theme park all day unless there with babies of course and need nappies and all that jazz as for speedy pass couldn’t really think of a way for them to merge where it wouldn’t feel like they’re joining half way through the queue I honestly hate the big ones station it’s so small and cramped feeling and just a ugly building in general

it would be relatively easy to do this on PMBO as there's already the staff access route which branches off the exit path and enters the station building then goes up a flight of steps to queue level. If they could somehow utilise this route for speedy pass and merge into the queue just before the air gates they could significantly improve loading times.
